Meet Tim Black

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tim Black. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Tim, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from my upbringing. I lost both of my parents young, so I learned early that nothing in life is promised. That pushed me to grow up fast, take responsibility, and make something of myself. Every opportunity I get, whether it’s at work or in my creative life, I approach it with gratitude and a sense of urgency — because I know how quickly life can change. That mindset keeps me disciplined, consistent, and focused.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a hip-hop recording artist, filmmaker, and entrepreneur, and everything I do falls under the umbrella of Tim Black 360 — where sound, style, and storytelling collide. I create music, direct cinematic visuals through my company Reel Quality Films, and design luxury streetwear through my brand Black Luxury Brand (BLXRY). All of my work is rooted in authenticity and real-life experiences. I’ve lived a lot, overcome a lot, and I channel that into everything I create.

What excites me most is the impact — seeing people connect to my music, seeing a story come alive on screen, or watching someone rock my brand with confidence. I get to bring different parts of my creativity together and give people a full experience: the sound, the visuals, and the lifestyle.”

Right now, I’ve got a lot in motion. My new single and video “Come Up” just released, and currently I’m putting the finishing touches on an upcoming project with a hip hop artist L.Y.

I’ve been expanding my cinematic catalog with more films and visual projects. I’m also building out my apparel line with new BLXRY drops and preparing for more launches, including accessories and lifestyle pieces. On top of that, I’m developing new short films and continuing to grow Reel Quality Films into a full service production brand.

At the end of the day, everything I create is about inspiration. I want people to see my journey and realize that no matter where you start, you can build something powerful with consistency, creativity, and belief in yourself.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that impacted my journey the most are creativity, discipline, and storytelling.
Creativity allowed me to move fluidly between music, filmmaking, and fashion — each one inspires the other. Discipline kept me focused long enough to build full bodies of work, direct music videos and now films, plus launch a brand from scratch. And storytelling is the thread that ties it all together. Whether I’m writing a song, shooting a visual, or designing a BLXRY piece, I’m always thinking about the narrative, the emotion, and what I want people to feel.

For anyone starting out in music, film, or fashion, my advice is simple:
First, create constantly — even when you’re not inspired.
Second, learn the craft. Study lighting, songwriting, editing, branding, whatever your lane is. Skills give you freedom.
And lastly, be intentional with your story. Your background, your struggles, your wins — that’s what makes your art stand out. The industry is full of talent, but not many people have something real to say. Your authenticity is your superpower.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

The biggest improvement has been my ability to unify everything I do. Before, music, film, and fashion were three separate lanes. Over the last year, I learned how to make them work together — my visuals match my sound, my fashion reflects my brand, and my storytelling ties it all together. That alignment has elevated everything I create.
