Meet Sebastian Rojas Jimenez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sebastian Rojas Jimenez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sebastian, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My confidence and self-esteem come from believing in myself and in what I do. They also stem from knowing the examples from history of great artists and creators who had to overcome the misunderstanding of their contemporaries. Many times, the artist sees things that others cannot see at that moment. The history of art is full of such examples; in fact, it is often said that the history of art is one step ahead of general history because it speaks of human needs before they become evident.

It is important to believe in your own work, even when others don’t see what you see or don’t understand it at the time — to remain true to yourself and be perseverant. It also involves accepting the vulnerability that is inherent to the creative process. The development of artistic skills and the connection with your own creative voice contribute to healthy self-esteem also.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

**rojasjimenezart** is my artistic name and the way I sign my artworks. Little by little, I have been developing a trajectory and brand presence through the creation of a coherent visual identity — an original and recognizable personal style that includes my logo, a color palette, typography, and distinctive imagery. This is complemented by a consistent and cohesive visual narrative on online platforms such as social media and websites, as well as active interaction with audiences, other artists, and galleries.

I am currently strengthening my brand presence with a content strategy, collaborations, and the application of this visual identity in every possible aspect of my artistic production — from packaging to exhibitions. It is also important to continue developing skills such as creativity, self-motivation, project management, and a distinctive artistic vision. By focusing on these areas, an artist can define their niche within their discipline — in my case, printmaking.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I believe that the three main areas of development for a visual artist are **creation**, **concept**, and **communication**. covers everything from the technical ability to produce artworks to the capacity to organize exhibitions, develop brand projects, and communicate ideas effectively.

**Creation** refers to sustained artistic practice over time — mastering the technique through which you want to express yourself and developing your own visual language or discourse.

**Conceptual development and curatorship** involve building analytical, interpretative, and critical thinking skills in art. This includes exploring the historical and social context of artworks. Curatorship also encompasses the organization and management of exhibitions, projects, and collections in museums, cultural centers, or galleries. On the other hand, **research** is fundamental for delving into specific topics in order to give coherence to a body of work or artistic line, and to create a solid artistic discourse.

Finally, **communication** Applying visual skills to **corporate communication**, such as brand identity creation, graphic design, web design, and editorial design. This includes**Promotion and outreach:** Promoting one’s own work as well as communicating the value of your art through media, social networks, or outreach activities.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

Exactly what I’m doing right now and what I described in my previous answers. : )
