We were lucky to catch up with Khalique Oliver recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Khalique , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome involves believing that you truly belong and consistently showing up wherever your tribe is. If you’re a hairstylist, attend as many hair events as you can. If you’re a photographer, participate in all the power shoots and artist events available. Remember, you belong because you do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Khalique Oliver, a passionate photographer working toward a Degree in Photography. Specializing in Portraits, Events, & Commercial shooting. Growing up in North Carolina, photography became my artistic outlet, a way for me to express my creativity, tell stories, and connect with others. I’m drawn to capturing authentic moments and real emotions, whether through portraits, events, or commercial shoots. I choose themes that resonate with everyday life moments that reveal personality and connection because I believe in the power of genuine storytelling. I am now adding on content creator to my brand, stay tuned for this new journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
You need to be passionate about what you do and possess a strong level of knowledge, which comes from taking the time to learn your craft, whether through formal education or self-teaching. My advice is to seek out classes related to your craft whenever possible. Remember, you can’t know everything, and staying teachable is essential for growth.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I would say my key focus areas are developing effective business strategies, navigating the world of business, marketing to customers and potential clients, and learning how to integrate AI to generate and develop leads for my business.
