Meet Rachel Thomas

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rachel Thomas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rachel, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

When I was a junior in high school, I made the decision that I needed to stop caring what people thought of me. People’s perception of me was affecting me a lot, and I wasn’t really doing what I love.

That year was one of the best years of high school for me. That’s when I started doing theater, choir, talking to boys more, and the year I went on my first date.

Now I wish I could say it was that easy and that I’ve kept that up for the years since high school, but that wouldn’t be true. It’s a fight every day to be confident. However, once you realize that everyone is more worried about themselves and they are about you, It makes things a whole lot easier.

Also, why shouldn’t I be confident? There’s literally no one else in the world like me. There’s no one else that can do what I can do, they can play the roles that I play on stage, they have the same opinions and thoughts as me.

Everyone should be confident for this reason.

Plus, being confident is more fun. And if you don’t believe it, then fake like you believe it. It’s called “fake it till you make it” for a reason.

Nobody’s going to give confidence to you, nobody is going to give you high self-esteem. No friendship can give it to you, no romantic relationship can give it to you, no parental or sibling relationship can give it to you. You have to seek it out for yourself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

am lucky enough to be an actress, choreographer, content creator, and intimacy director.

I started my content creation journey back in 2020 and since then I have gained over 700,000 followers across YouTube Instagram and TikTok. On my platforms I talk about my life is a performer, create skits and relatable content, and share my hot takes ! My goal is to be a beacon of light and joy in every part of my artistic practice. I want to show others that being authentically you IS what the world needs. And to never hold back, but rather take what you want.

Similarly, I do this through my performing career as well. I feel that my God-given gift is to spread light and joy throughout the world and I try to do this through the acting roles that I take on.

As a choreographer, I feel that there are many avenues with which two create dance. My goal is to explore new and innovative ways to tell a story through movement . I feel that I have a gift for helping people to see that even though they might not believe it, they ARE good at dancing. I want to continue to spread that narrative.

I also feel that it is very important to have a sense of whimsy in life. As an artist, I tried to embrace this. I believe we are put on this earth to experience art and its beauty, and I want to show that to everyone I encounter.

I am hopefully going to be working on a solo cabaret show coming up next year in 2026 that will be produced in New York City so stay tuned for that! I am also currently working on some music which is something that is very new to me. I’ve been doing a lot more songwriting, and I’m very excited to share that with my audience soon.

My most recent project was with Lady M the Macbeth musical. I recorded for the concept album at Abbey Rd., Studios. In London and I can’t wait to share that music when it comes out soon as well.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. As a performer, take time to develop every aspect of your performing skills. This means taking classes in everything: dance, vocal lessons, music classes, etc. Do this as often as you can and start as soon as you can. It makes a huge difference.

2. Find a hobby that has nothing to do with your art. I will show you that your whole personality doesn’t have to be wrapped up in how “good” you are as an artist.

3. Ask people questions. It’s not silly to be curious and not know the answer to something. As an artist, you will meet so many artists that are smarter than you and so many that you are smarter than. Be curious and don’t feel stupid doing it

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I feel overwhelmed often. I have anxiety and often times I get overstimulated by the amount of information I consume both online and in the world.

The best thing I can say is take a step back. It sounds so simple and so silly, but get out of your own head. Problems are always bigger when you’re alone and especially at night.

When you are spiraling about an artistic project, an audition, a song lyric, whatever it may be for you, you have to simply step back and reset.

Talk to someone you know, go on a walk, bake something. This is especially true when you start comparing yourself to other artists. Comparison is truly the thief of joy, and I often find myself comparing my life as an artist to many other artists. It is a battle that I struggle with daily. But once you understand that everyone else is also going through it, it makes you feel less alone.

I would also say go back to my original answer to one of the previous questions, and that is that literally no one can create art like I can. No one can have the same take on something as I do, and I have a unique voice that no one can copy. Once you remember that, you can be confident in the fact that whatever is meant for you will not pass you by.

Someone else’s journey is not yours. You are not meant to have what they have and they are not meant to have what you have. Focus on your art and your work and (as my dad would always say) “put your blinders on.” Your time is coming. No use in rushing it. Everything will happen when it’s supposed to.
