Meet Louise Becker

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Louise Becker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Louise, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.

When your art form is what fuels you and also what you’re building a career on, experiencing creative blocks can feel so defeating. It’s a scary place to be in, because you don’t know when or how the spark will come back. It’s especially hard when you’re on a deadline for a project or feel the pressure to deliver a specific result. As creatives, we’re not just completing a task – we’re putting our hearts and souls into whatever we’re working on and we want it to come from an authentic place.

The first step for me is not to fall into panic and to acknowledge that this is part of the journey, an ebb and flow, just like our emotions. I make sure to be gentle with myself and have deep trust that the inspiration will return. Sometimes, I need to step back and focus on other practices for a while, like spending time in nature, meditating, exploring a different form of art or nurturing my relationships. Sometimes creative blocks come from burnout or from habits and environments that need to be adjusted. There are times when we need more structure, discipline and setting goals and others when we simply need to let go and allow things to flow.

Whenever I’ve experienced a block, I’ve always come out on the other side with a deeper understanding of myself and my craft. Remembering that gives me confidence when those moments come.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’ve been singing and writing for as long as I can remember. It’s always felt natural to me. Three years ago, I moved from Germany to New York to pursue my dream of bringing my artistry to life. Since then, I’ve studied theatre at the New York Film Academy and currently music at the School of Jazz, while continuing to write, perform, and deepen my understanding of myself and my passions.

I’m currently finishing my upcoming EP “songs for the soul”, which will be released early next year. The title captures exactly what I hope listeners will feel when they hear these songs. I wrote them in moments when I needed healing and they’ve become a reflection of that journey.

A big focus for me right now is merging my music with my spiritual practice. I’ve been immersed in meditation and healing practices since I was little, and I want to infuse this energy into everything I create. My mission with this EP and with all my music is to help others connect more deeply with themselves and the world around them, so they can show up for it with more presence, love and care.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Consistency- My routines and habits are the foundation I can always fall back on. Building discipline can be hard, but following a structure you have built for yourself not only prepares you, but it also keeps you grounded and lets you take small steps every day without feeling overwhelmed. Over time, that’s where the biggest growth happens.

2. Being your own best friend and cheerleader. While we all need support from others, there will be many moments on your creative path when you feel lonely, defeated, or not good enough. The greatest gift is learning to be compassionate and patient with yourself and to tell yourself the words you most need to hear.

3. Following my intuition. I see this as a kind of antidote to comparison. When what you’re doing feels right to you, it gives less power to thoughts like “I’m behind” or “I should be doing what they’re doing.”

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Some of the books that have impacted me the most are probably The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. They have helped me reconnect with my purpose and to look closely at destructive habits I have. One quote I love from A New Earth is “Don’t let a mad world tell you that success is anything other than a successful present moment.”

I also started the Artist’s Way and it has been life-changing to give my artistry the priority, time and energy it deserves and to realize that I can free myself from any perceived blockages that keep me from creating.
