We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marie Torossian a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marie, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a combination of my upbringing, my mindset, my purpose—and above all, my faith. I’ve been through enough seasons in life and in business to know that I’m not doing any of this alone. God has carried me through situations that I couldn’t have navigated with my own strength. That grounding gives me the clarity and the courage to keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t easy.
I also come from a background where you didn’t have the luxury of giving up. If something mattered, you found a way. That early environment shaped how I approach everything today. But over time, I realized that resilience isn’t just something you’re born with—it’s something you build. And my faith has been the anchor that allows me to build it.
Adopting a 10X mindset amplified that even more. Challenges are part of the journey, not a sign to stop. When something feels overwhelming, I pray, I ask for guidance, and I remind myself that if I’ve been trusted with a vision, I’ll also be given the strength to execute it.
Running a CPA firm, transitioning to a coaching and strategy brand, juggling two businesses, supporting clients, creating content every week—these things aren’t easy. But each season strengthened a different part of me. Every time I overcame fear, uncertainty, or a setback, it reinforced that resilience is both a muscle and a blessing.
So where does my resilience come from? From God. From where I come from. From the mindset I built. And from the purpose I know I’m here to fulfill. That combination keeps me grounded, grateful, and ready for whatever comes next.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I help business owners build stronger, more valuable companies by giving them something most entrepreneurs don’t have enough of: clarity. After years of working as a CPA, auditor, and CFO, I realized most businesses weren’t struggling because of their product or service — they were struggling because the owners didn’t fully understand the financial story of their business.
That insight led me to create VALUEATION-MT®, my proprietary methodology and the foundation of the coaching and strategic advisory work I now do through The Profit Lab. VALUEATION-MT® gives entrepreneurs a practical, step-by-step way to understand their numbers, streamline operations, make informed decisions, and increase the long-term value of their business.
Right now, I’m expanding VALUEATION-MT® into workshops, coaching programs, and tools designed specifically for growth-focused business owners — including cash flow templates, KPI dashboards, and pricing resources. I’m also relaunching The Profit Lab Podcast, where I break down business and financial strategy in simple, actionable ways.
Ultimately, my work is about giving entrepreneurs the knowledge, structure, and confidence they need to build businesses that support their goals and grow in value over time.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three things that shaped my journey the most were discipline, financial literacy, and having the courage to reinvent myself.
1. Discipline
Discipline is what carried me through every phase — from building my CPA firm to transitioning into coaching and strategy under The Profit Lab. Motivation comes and goes, but discipline keeps you consistent when things get uncomfortable or uncertain.
Advice: Start small. Build one habit you refuse to negotiate on — whether it’s reading, content creation, prospecting, or learning something new. Discipline compounds.
2. Financial Literacy (Real, practical financial understanding)
Understanding the financial story of a business changed everything for me. It’s why I created VALUEATION-MT® — because I saw firsthand how clarity around numbers empowers better decisions, reduces stress, and increases value.
Advice: Don’t wait until you “have time.” Learn the basics early: cash flow, pricing, margins, cost structure, and KPIs. Even a simple understanding gives you a major advantage.
3. Courage to Reinvent
My journey has had several pivot points — leaving corporate, starting a firm, launching The Profit Lab, shifting away from compliance work to focus on coaching and business strategy. Reinvention is uncomfortable, but staying where you don’t belong is worse.
Advice: Give yourself permission to evolve. Your first version isn’t your final version. If something no longer aligns with your purpose, your energy, or your goals, don’t be afraid to pivot.
At the end of the day, your journey becomes a lot clearer when you commit to discipline, understand your numbers, and allow yourself to grow into your next level. Those three things changed my life — and they’re available to anyone willing to invest in themselves.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes — I’m always open to collaborating with organizations that align with my work in business clarity, financial strategy, and performance coaching. I typically partner with professional associations, conferences, business groups, media outlets, and companies looking for speakers, trainers, or contributors who can bring practical financial insight and 10X-focused leadership, sales, and mindset concepts to their audience.
I frequently collaborate with platforms where I serve as a writer or speaker — such as Think Outside the Tax Box, Woodard, Influence Magazine, and other business and accounting communities — and I welcome similar opportunities.
I’m also available for corporate training, especially for teams looking to improve sales performance, leadership development, financial understanding, and operational efficiency using a blend of VALUEATION-MT® methodology and 10X coaching principles.
