We recently connected with Chengrang Cho and have shared our conversation below.
Chengrang, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Being a content creator & videographer today can be really challenging. With the constant pressure to post consistently and chase views no social media, it’s easy to feel burnt out. For me, the best way to keep my creativity alive is by engaging with other artists. I make it a point to talk to other creatives, learn from them, and exchange ideas. It’s easy to get stuck in your own bubble when you’re creating, but collaborating or simply discussing with others helps me break through those walls. I take inspiration from their approaches and integrate what I learn in my own unique way. That interaction not only fuels my creativity but also helps me grow continuously as a creator, and overall support the community grow.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a content creator and social media influencer, focused on producing cinematic, visually-driven videos that capture stories, places, and experiences in a unique way and I also love tech and new products. What excites me most about my work is the ability to turn moments into visual stories that connect with people and inspire them, there’s something special about creating content that resonates on both an aesthetic and emotional level.
Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to attend Leica HQ in Germany for their new product launch event alongside Insta360 and Leica. Being surrounded by top creators and industry experts was an amazing experience, both inspiring and educational. It’s moments like these that fuel my creativity and drive me to continue creating content that is cinematic, innovative, and meaningful. Collaboration and experimentation are also a big part of my creative process. I constantly engage with other creators and learn from their approaches, which helps me push my own work further and stay inspired.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Don’t overthink. In the beginning, I would spend hours planning, worrying if my videos were perfect, or if people would engage with them. It was exhausting and often held me back. I learned that the most important step is just to start creating. For example, some of my early cinematic travel videos weren’t perfect, but once I posted them, I learned so much from the process and from the audience’s reactions. Taking action, even when unsure, has been key in pushing my creativity forward.
2. Keep learning. No matter how much I’ve achieved, I know I’m not perfect, and I’m always learning. Attending events like Leica HQ in Germany or collaborating with other top creators on projects with Insta360 has been eye-opening. Seeing how other professionals approach their craft inspired me to experiment with new techniques and tools. Every project is an opportunity to learn, and that mindset has helped me continually improve the quality and value of my work.
3. Consistency. Social media can be discouraging; not every post goes viral, and not every idea lands. Early on, I faced moments where I questioned whether to continue. But I realized that showing up consistently posting regularly, creating content even when the results aren’t immediate, is what leads to growth. Over time, this persistence helped me build a recognizable style and a community that resonates with my work. Consistency is what transforms effort into long-term success.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past 12 months, the biggest area of growth for me has been pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. I made a conscious effort to meet new people, collaborate with other creators, and travel to new places all experiences that challenged me and expanded my perspective. Through these experiences, I learned to adapt quickly, work harder, and take creative risks I might have avoided before.
As a result, my growth has been rapid: over the past year, my social media following has increased from 100K to nearly 400K. This growth reflects not just the numbers, but the skills, creativity, and connections I’ve built along the way. I’m incredibly grateful for all the support from my audience and peers and my family, and I’m committed to continuing this momentum and pushing my creative work even further.
