Meet Ferris Harland

We were lucky to catch up with Ferris Harland recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ferris, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

Quite frankly, sheer will.. when you grow up in the inner city without much. You tend to hold on to the little things you do have. You hone your talent. You create to escape.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’ve been running my own tattoo parlor for almost 5 years now, i work along side another artist and piercer. In the heart of the art district in buffalo ny. At the moment i am focused on bigger more complex tattoo project as well as art ihstalls.i work with Acrylic paint and i like to complete atleast 7 projects a year im currently working on a black panther revolution piece. I like for my clients to see and known I’m not just a tattoo artist.im a well rounded artist

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Discipline will make or break you. Its better to have it than not. Sometimes you need to tell yourself no so you can have a brighter tomorrow.

Always stay hungry, there’s someone somewhere dying for your spot. Remain hungry to keep it.

Consistency. Some weeks will be bad some weeks will be phenomenal. Stay down throughout it all. People will see you there everyday working and making and will respect that. Consistency draws the people in

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

They believed in me.in my art, in my books and studies, they bought me art supplies and crafts…if your child has a passion. Pursue it. Theyll never forget you!
