Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brooke Major. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brooke, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
“My self-confidence and self-esteem have been shaped gradually through my work, especially through the tactile and meditative process of creating my monochromatic white paintings. Because my pieces rely so much on texture, gesture, and form rather than color, they force me to trust the subtlest parts of my intuition—how much pressure my hand applies, how a ridge of oil paint catches the light, or how empty space can hold as much meaning as a bold stroke. Developing this kind of sensitivity gave me a new confidence in my own perceptions and in my artistic voice.
Living in France as an American artist also played a significant role. Being immersed in a culture with such a deep history of art pushed me to refine my craft while also reaffirming the unique perspective I bring from my own background. Over time, I realized that my work doesn’t need to compete with anyone else’s; it only needs to be true to the quiet strength and inner clarity that I try to express through these white, sculpted surfaces.
Through that process—trusting subtlety, embracing my cultural duality, and honoring the physicality of my medium—I’ve built both self-confidence and self-esteem. My artwork became not just something I create, but something that reflects how I’ve learned to stand in my own identity.”

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an American artist living and working in France, and my artistic identity is defined by the sculptural, monochromatic world I create using only titanium white oil paint. Over the years, I have developed a practice that pushes this single pigment to its fullest expressive potential, shaping it into textured, relief-like surfaces where movement, shadow, and form take precedence over color. My work exists in the space between painting and sculpture, and I use thick layers of paint almost as a sculptor uses clay—carving, building, and refining until the surface begins to breathe with its own rhythm.
Living in France has profoundly shaped the way I see and create. My American background gives me a sense of independence and bold experimentation, while the artistic heritage surrounding me in France continually sharpens my eye and deepens my respect for craftsmanship. These two influences—my roots and my environment—merge naturally in my work and form the creative foundation of my brand. It is a brand centered on minimalism, purity, intention, and a commitment to the power of subtlety.
Professionally, I focus on exploring how titanium white alone can carry narrative, emotion, and structure. I am fascinated by how much can be communicated without relying on color—how texture can hold tension, how shadow can act as a line, and how the slightest change in gesture can shift the entire atmosphere of a piece. Working in this way challenges me to be completely honest with my process and entirely present in the physical act of creation.
My work invites viewers to slow down and truly look—to become aware of the play of light across the surface, the contours I sculpt by hand, and the quiet intensity that emerges from simplicity. This is what defines my brand: a unique, sculptural approach to monochromatic painting that blends discipline, refinement, and a deep sensitivity to material.
As my artistic career continues to grow, I remain dedicated to expanding this visual language and sharing it with those who resonate with its clarity and depth. My art is more than a series of works; it is the ongoing expression of how I see space, light, and the beauty of reduction. It is my signature. It is my story.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three Most Impactful Qualities in My Artistic Journey
1. Mastery of Material and Deep Technical Curiosity
Looking back, one of the most defining aspects of my growth was my commitment to understanding my medium—titanium white oil paint—on a deeper, almost intimate level. Instead of treating paint as something simply applied, I learned how it moves, how it responds to pressure, how it builds form, and how it interacts with light. This technical curiosity allowed my work to evolve from painting into sculptural expression.
Advice for beginners:
Choose one material or technique and truly study it. Don’t rush to try everything. Instead, become fluent in something specific—understand its strengths, its limitations, its temperament. Mastery gives you confidence, and confidence gives your work identity.
2. The Discipline of Consistency and Showing Up
My career progressed not through sudden breakthroughs, but through the discipline of showing up every day—working, refining, experimenting, and pushing myself even when progress felt invisible. Consistency built my skills, my vision, and ultimately, my artistic voice.
Advice for beginners:
Make creativity a habit, not a waiting game. You don’t need long, dramatic sessions; even a small, daily practice builds momentum. Consistency turns doubt into improvement and ideas into a body of work. Show up for your craft, even when you don’t feel “inspired.”
3. Embracing My Identity and Brand as an Artist
One of the most impactful parts of my journey was realizing that my brand wasn’t something I created suddenly—it emerged from who I already was: an American artist living in France, working in monochromatic sculptural oil paintings. When I embraced the uniqueness of my path and allowed it to shape my narrative, my work became more authentic and recognizable.
Advice for beginners:
Your brand is simply your story told with clarity. Don’t force it—reflect on who you are, where you come from, and what naturally draws you in. Over time, patterns will appear. Lean into what makes you different rather than trying to mirror someone else. Authenticity is magnetic.
Final Words of Guidance
The artistic journey will always have bumps, but you can soften the path by:
Exploring deeply, rather than widely
Working consistently, even imperfectly
Honoring your own voice and experiences
Art isn’t just what you create—it’s who you become while creating it. If you can trust that process, the path becomes much more fulfilling, and the inevitable challenges become meaningful steps rather than obstacles.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
As my career continues to grow, I’m very intentional about the people I choose to collaborate with. I look for partners who truly understand the essence of my brand: the sculptural purity of titanium white, the power of minimalism, and the emotional depth that comes from working in a monochromatic language. I want to work with people who recognize the uniqueness of what I’m creating and who feel genuinely inspired by the textures, the light, and the sculptural presence of my work.
Professionalism and integrity are extremely important to me. I value collaborators who communicate clearly, follow through, and share a long-term vision. Whether it’s curators, gallery owners, consultants, or creative professionals, I’m drawn to people who believe in building something meaningful together rather than rushing for quick results.
I’m also looking for individuals who think creatively and strategically—people who can see how my work fits within the contemporary art world and who can help position it in ways that allow it to reach the right audiences. This includes partners who are passionate about storytelling, because my brand isn’t just about the visual surface; it’s about my process, my identity as an American artist working in France, and my dedication to a single medium.
Ultimately, I want to collaborate with people who bring passion, curiosity, and vision to the table—people who see potential, who appreciate craftsmanship, and who are excited to help me shape the next chapter of my career. Those are the kinds of partnerships that truly elevate an artist, and those are the relationships I’m committed to building as I continue to rise in the art world.
