Meet Lakia Nicole

We recently connected with Lakia Nicole and have shared our conversation below.

Lakia , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I built my self-esteem and confidence by facing my fears head-on. I learned to navigate my nervousness by engaging in activities like performing and modeling, even when I felt anxious. Each time I pushed through that fear and took action, I gradually improved. It was a process of consistently challenging myself to do things that scared me, which ultimately helped me overcome obstacles and grow more confident in myself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Lakia Nicole, and I am a singer/songwriter with a passion for music that began at the age of five in church. In 2024, I released my EP titled *Love EP*, which explores the theme of love and its healthiest expressions.

My music can also be heard in the film Corruption, featuring my song Butterfly, as well as in another film titled Damaged, available on Tubi. Additionally, I have upcoming music featured in a new film called *No Strings*, which will be released on Tubi soon, and I’m excited for its debut.

As an influencer, I create content that showcases my dance, promotes my music, and reflects my lifestyle. You can find my *Love EP* on all major digital platforms—just search for Lakia Nicole, and feel free to download it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey, I believe three key qualities have significantly impacted my growth as an artist: patience, authenticity, and self-compassion. For those just starting out, my advice is to focus on developing these areas.

1. Patience, It’s easy to feel the pressure to achieve quick results, especially in the music industry. I learned that time is a crucial element in evolving as an artist. Allow your journey to unfold naturally; the right opportunities will come to you when the time is right.

2. Authenticity: Embrace who you are as an artist. Spend less time worrying about how your music will be received and more time enjoying the creative process. Often, the tracks you may not favor can resonate deeply with others. Don’t hesitate to share them—your audience might connect with what you least expect.

3. Self-Compassion: Give yourself grace throughout this journey. It’s normal to experience setbacks and self-doubt. Instead of being overly critical, celebrate your growth and recognize that you will build an audience as you evolve.

In terms of promotion, I realized that I had wasted money on unnecessary exposure strategies. Focus on gaining organic fans rather than overspending on promotions. Engage with your audience and acknowledge their support—building genuine connections is invaluable. Enjoy the process and remember that your passion for music is what truly matters.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to create an environment where I felt free to be myself. My father was incredibly supportive; he never judged me and encouraged open communication about anything and everything. This openness really helped shape who I am.

My mother played a pivotal role in nurturing my spiritual side. I have a unique spiritual connection with her that allows us to discuss topics I might not share with anyone else. Recently, we’ve even started experiencing dream connections, where we can communicate in our dreams. For instance, she once told me she knew I was happy because I appeared smiling in her dream, which I found truly amazing. This deep bond has been a source of strength and inspiration in my life.
