We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eddie Pimentel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Eddie , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Great question! I’ve learned to stay focused on the logical balance of the creative chain, making sure each person involved is the best fit for the role, the sound, or the style required.
For me, that often means bringing composition ideas, guitars, and textures to the table. But at the end of the day, the music is always calling out, saying, “Hey, I’m here.” The best thing we can do is listen to what the music needs and choose the right person for that moment, regardless of anything else. It’s always about serving the song.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m first and foremost a blues guitarist, as well as a singer and songwriter. Right now, I’m very proud of my Christmas album “0:00am Merry Christmas,” especially since we’re in the season, my favorite time of the year!
At the same time, I’m incredibly excited about the release of three EPs coming next year, both created in collaboration with three of my favorite vocalists. One is British gospel singer Michelle John, the other is Brazilian popular music singer Roberta Spindel and Charlean Carmon, american singer from Chicago, based in LA.
I feel extremely grateful to have some of the best musicians in the industry by my side, and even more grateful to fulfill the dream of recording with artists I’ve always admired and considered among my favorites.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
EASY! Well… it’s easy to say that now laughs, but the journey was long and demanding!
For me, the three most impactful pillars were: playing an instrument, songwriting, and singing.
The answer may sound simple, but I truly believe that studying an instrument in depth, along with traditional music theory, gives you the foundation for everything: composing, arranging, and producing.
And one important note: please build your own home studio. That’s completely achievable nowadays, and it will become the BEST mirror you can have as a student and as an artist.
As for singing, in my case it was the cherry on top. It’s what helped me discover my true artistic signature, together with my guitar tone, my band’s sound, and my melodic identity.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! I’ve already been fortunate enough to see many of my dreams come true, most of them far from Brazil. I have the producer I always wanted, the band I always hoped for, and collaborations with my favorite singers: Michelle John, Roberta Spindel, and Charlean Carmon.
But recently, one new dream was born right here in my homeland, Brazil, in the mountains where I live, in Petrópolis. It’s a city I love deeply, and a true cradle of amazing musicians and artists. We have one of the most beautiful theaters in the world, the Teatro Imperial, and I have a huge desire to create what could become my first solo album with orchestra: “One Way Home in Orchestra,” a project that would be an extension of my long-dreamed and deeply crafted album “One Way Home” that I released in September 2024, along with my first international solo tour.
It would be another dream come true if my producer Tim Carmon, along with Michelle, Roberta, and Charlean, could take part in this project. Recording in that theater, with Paulo and Sabrina (theater directors) producing an event of that magnitude, where Brazilian music would be proudly represented to the world, blended with a touch of British gospel (Michelle John) and the American Soul vibe from Chicago/LA (Charlean Carmon)… to me, it simply doesn’t get any better.
I love building this entire musical frame with my guitar at the center and bringing all these worlds together into one powerful artistic statement. Soul, Gospel, Pop, Funky…Blues!
