We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marie Valencia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Marie, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

My self-discipline is rooted in real life experiences and understanding how powerful,creating new structural routines for success can be to accomplishing your dreams or goals.I have run my small business for over 11 years solo, so I have many different responsibilities that I have to be accountable for and must continue learning about to be profitable and also, sustainable.Each day,I try to commit myself to doing something that will support my current goals (financially,physically and spiritually).Small moves make big waves!

I feel very fortunate,to be the Owner,Artist & Performer (Burlesque & Tarot) behind Mystic Herbs Shop for the last 12 years!My small business has reached every coast of the US in the last 3 years and am so incredibly grateful to be back in Las Vegas,NV where MHS was founded.Mystic Herbs Shop will remain, a pop-up shop (for now) that features original artwork,handmade jewelry, metaphysical items and Tarot Readings at various special events in Las Vegas,NV.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Keep Creating,Keep Learning about your medium and understand that your greatest competitor is yourself.There is always something to learn that can help elevate what you’re trying to accomplish.Building an organic and sustainable career,in any industry takes time so use yours wisely to bring in and attract the types of people who will support your dreams.Chase tangible results not clout!
