Meet Dr. Mirna Martinez

We recently connected with Dr. Mirna Martinez and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Mirna , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

Honestly, I thought my background, my style, and mindset were going to be a huge obstacle in walking in the rooms that I do. As a Latina from the hood we tend to view the world different. We tend to speak and appreciate things to different levels. But I love being the only Latina Mujer in rooms that were created for white business men. I am grateful that they have become mentors and coaches on how to play the business game. God bless me with a hard one of a kind life where I was able to learn and set an example to other people like me. That if you desire it God has already blessed you with everything that you need to obtain it. Now you just got to put in the work, even the right people will be placed in your path to support you. Be ready to evolve and never doubt that you are suppose be in that room no matter your color, background, or style.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Well I am Owner and CEO of a security company here in Arlington TX, called National Special Force LLC. I am excited to announce that we are currently expanding statewide. We are 5 years in as a company and we are making moves that are surpassing other companies that have been in the industry longer. It gives me great joy to announce we are a woman owned company in the male industry. Additionally we are very well connected to our community. Besides providing our clients with protection to their most valuable assets we also engage with our next generation by providing internships and mentorship as well as guidance through our Security TX Academy. As a team with other non profit organizations we have united to make a toy drive that gifted over 750 kids last year with Christmas gifts. Many things that we have done as a company has been a huge connection to my personal story and transformation as Christian woman. First we are a faith based business, that moves with purpose of helping others just as I would had like for someone to help me when I needed it growing up.
I have a very traumatic past that consist of trauma, poverty. abuse, drugs, gangs, and so much more. But even with all that I manage to beat the odds and become something that most stated would be impossible for someone like me. My whole life I was told that I was useless worthless and yet I manage to find God allow him in my heart and hear what he had to say about me. Therefore I received everything that I desired along with finding my purpose. So now am dedicated to share my story lead by example other to our amazing father, yet being an answer to many prayers and help others transform their lives just as I did.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I started with a very in depth healing journey that required a lot of inner work and thought work. I had to go all the way back to my childhood and heal so much that had happen to me as well as forgive many people. This was important because I needed to let go of what did not belong to me so that I wouldn’t be carrying baggage that was going to be holding me back. I also started to journal my thoughts, and create planners to organize my priorities. Meditation became a must, to ground and balance my inner emotions and thoughts. This was the Mental Journey!
The next thing that I did was learning to take care of my body. Learning to be discipline in my new routines that were going to elevate me and remove me from things that were going to make it difficult to accomplish my goals. From learning to simply drink water all the way to learning to wake up at 3am to go to the gym to workout. I quickly saw that this was helping me remove stress, depression, and even anxiety from my everyday emotions. I felt with more energy and had more time to be productive, while the world was just waking up I was already being productive. I also began to read books to expand my knowledge , listen to motivational videos to keep me encouraged, and surround myself with people that were doing better than me to elevate my standards, This was the Physical Journey!
Lastly I would say that activating my intuition and aligning it to my divine desires was something that really wrapped everything together to helping me become the new best version of myself. This was me understanding that God created me and that he was ready to build a strong relationship with me and guide me on how to fulfill all my desires. It was tough at first because I did not feel worthy due to my past. But deep down I wanted it so bad and finally I gave up trying to do things on my own. When I got baptize it truly was me being born again I could see the world different, I had a reason to wake up in the mornings. Most of my life I would try to sleep my days away well that was all over because I had now created such a powerful bond with God that there was nothing that could stop me. This was the Spiritual Journey!
These 3 journeys is what did it for me and I would do it all over again and give my recipe to many so that they can begin a life of success because with this their is no doubt that all things are possible!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I have to say that my husband has been really the most impactful person in my life in all aspects. Since the first day he saw me he states that he could see the business woman that I would become. He knew he had to marry me and do everything that he could to show me what was possible for me. I will say that when we met I was so stuck in my ways that there was no way I could ever imagine I would ever change. It started steady; by showing me the the basics in computer systems, then it went to the way I dressed, he even helped me create my official professional resume that then landed me my first office job. It was an experience I never thought I would have had. As the years went on he help expand my mind, to what is possible even for someone like me. He taught me about having goals and to do things different from what I consider to be normal. Best way to explain it always think outside the box, never settle, and go after what you want. As we grew up he began to tap into business and learned then he automatically poured into me. Making sure that I knew the business and that I grasp it till the point I became owner knowing everything that was needed to move the business forward. He continues to show me that there is a solution for everything and anything that we do there will be a risk but that’s what entrepreneurship is..
