Meet Laurel Sabadosh

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Laurel Sabadosh. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Laurel below.

Laurel, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?

I avoid burnout by staying inspired. Anytime I feel myself slowing down creatively, I’ll go to a writers’ round or a concert. Seeing other artists always sparks that drive to write the next great song or be on that stage, it pushes me to keep working toward where I want to be. I also use music as therapy, so when things start feeling too serious, I’ll write just to write. Those honest songs usually end up being my favorites. And I give myself grace, if I need to take a break for a day,, that’s okay, but I genuinely love what I do, and that keeps me energized.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m an independent country artist and right now the most important thing I’m creating is my debut EP, “Behind Closed Doors”, coming out December 5th. It’s a concept EP that takes you through the different chapters of a toxic relationship. I went through a really hard relationship and it shaped me in a way I’ve carried ever since. I wrote this project with the hope that it can help someone else feel less alone and maybe give them the strength to leave something that isn’t healthy.

So many of us keep our pain behind closed doors, thinking we’re the only ones struggling. I used to do that too, but the truth is so many people are going through the same things, and hearing someone else’s story can mean everything. This EP is my story told honestly, and I’m incredibly excited to finally share it. If it reaches even one person who needs it, then it’s already done its job.

We’re celebrating the release with a special online show December 4th featuring the writers and my producer, which has been such a meaningful way to bring this project to life.

Overall, my brand is about honesty, storytelling, and creating music for the people who learned the hard way and this EP is the truest reflection of that.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three things that have impacted my journey the most are confidence, knowing who I am as an artist, and just being dedicated.

Confidence can take you a long way if it’s authentic. I really believe in my music, my sound, and what I have to say. If I didn’t, none of this would work. If you don’t believe in yourself, it’s hard for anyone else to. For people just starting out, confidence grows the more you show up for yourself, even when it feels uncomfortable.

Second, having a clear brand and identity is huge in this industry. It’s great to have artists you look up to, but you also have to figure out what makes you different. When you understand your voice and the people you’re speaking to, everything becomes easier (working with producers, writing songs, and connecting with fans). My advice is to pay attention to what you naturally lean toward and what feels true to you. That’s your brand.

Finally, dedication. You have to be all-in. Practice, play shows, co-write, write alone, make music part of your everyday life. Momentum matters. For anyone new to this, put yourself out there. Meet people. Learn from everyone around you. And honestly, just be a good person. It goes a long way!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m an independent artist here in Nashville doing everything on my own, and I’d love to start building a team with someone who really believes in me. I’m looking for help with marketing and booking shows, especially outside Nashville and growing my social media presence. I create a lot of content and go live on TikTok several times a week, so there’s plenty to work with. I don’t have an unlimited budget, but I’m looking for someone who gets my brand and can be a true partner in my journey.
