Meet Keyshawn Gilbert

We recently connected with Keyshawn Gilbert and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Keyshawn, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I found my purpose through trial and error…. or so I thought….. In life we are presented with many things, so much so that it can confuse things. You may be doing one thing but something happens or things change to the point you have to pivot into a new direction. In doing so you can either let that situation decide your life path or you can treat it as just an obstacle in the way to something you really want.

I found purpose through really pursuing what I want to do in life, wether the people around me agree or not. Once I realized that this is my life and I stopped listening to outside pressures, I really started gaining the momentum, skillset and overall mindset to go for it…It would have been so much easier to quit in so many tough situations but even through those I couldn’t help but day dream about the life I wanted and how what I love to do would get me there. So at that point I knew this was what I wanted to do. It felt like God kept pushing me in this direction through life events and things just started unfolding in a good way once I started paying attention. I’m nowhere near where I want to be but I know I’m on the way and making good time.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello Everyone,

With creating a brand by yourself you are forced to wear many hats, which can be both daunting and exciting at the same time. Through doing so I developed the different outlooks needed to connect with customers and just overall people at the end of the day. By wearing all these hats I’m able to articulate my vision in many forms as well as understanding how to go about certain paths.

I have been recently searching for a new manufacturer and after taking the leap of faith on myself I flew to LA and went around the city meeting with different places and finally came upon one that I really like and fit the standards I was looking for.

Just the thrill of going out into the world and conquering your vision and dream, then literally seeing it being brought to life before your eyes is just a feeling everyone should pursue. Along that journey I learned a lot about not only myself but the overall aesthetic and vision for my brand.

I have been revamping the brand and making sure it is aligning with what I want to stand for, this process takes a lot of time and isn’t so simple. Reworking the business structure to field testing the samples for months and even years before a drop to make sure the standards I want are being upheld.
I am working on a drop that I’ve put a lot of time, effort and finances into that I hope convey the proper aesthetic for my brand which I think could be global with the right care and support.
I look forward to putting it out and showing what STYLWKY is about.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on the progress I’ve made so far I’d say the 3 biggest qualities and or skills that helped me were Obsession, Patience and Will-Power.

You have to have a slightly delusional Obsession with what you want out of life because if you don’t care that hard about your goals and what you want then who else will? No one.

Having Patience with something you care for deeply is a fundamental part of life that transcends the simple things your’e thinking of. It’s deeper than that.

True Will Power is needed to pursue your goals. What are you willing to do? How far are you willing to go?
What are you willing to put on hold for now to achieve greater things later?
Ask yourself.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am always looking for people and brands to collaborate with that also value what they create just as much as I do. Anyone or Any brand that would like to collaborate on some level please feel free to email me at ” [email protected] ” and we can discuss a potential collaboration further.
