Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michele Nichols. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michele, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
For me, avoiding burnout hasn’t been about slowing down — it’s been about getting brutally honest with what actually fuels me and what drains me. I learned the hard way that burnout doesn’t come from working hard; it comes from working out of alignment, pouring energy into things that don’t matter, or saying yes when my spirit is clearly saying no. I keep my life pretty full — acting, singing, voiceover, acting coaching, my homestead, church, my marriage — so I’ve had to build real boundaries. I keep my phone off between 9pm-9am. I have a morning routine and night routine.
Faith is also a huge anchor for me. When I feel stretched thin, I make sure I’m connected to God and not running on my own fumes. Living on a homestead helps — stepping outside, taking a walk around the pond, feeing the chickens, sitting on my porch watching the sunset over the lake.
Mostly I’ve learned to work from a place of purpose instead of panic, and that shift has made all the difference.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m an actress, singer, and voiceover artist based in the Southeast. I love playing grounded, emotionally rich, intense women. Alongside acting, I work as a booking assistant, which gives me a rare perspective on both the creative and business sides of this industry.
I don’t wait around for opportunities; I like to build them. I regularly create indie films and short-form projects with friends, and I weave my music background into my work whenever I can. Right now, I’m expanding into an acting coaching & self tape reader service with a new monthly acting membership coming soon.
Everything I do comes back to purpose, authenticity, and telling stories that actually say something.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey most were emotional resilience, a strong business mindset, and clear self-awareness. Resilience helped me handle the constant highs and lows of this industry without losing my entire sense of self. Learning the business — contracts, submissions, usage, and how casting actually works — helped me make decisions from an unemotional place so I could stop making them out of panic and desperation. And finally understanding my own essence. For anyone starting out, my advice is simple: show up consistently, study the business like it’s part of the craft, and pay attention to what you naturally bring into a room.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Over the past year, my biggest area of growth has been learning to lead my career instead of just react to it. I became much more strategic and treating the business side with the same seriousness as the creative side. I’ve also grown in confidence, especially in choosing roles and opportunities that align with my values and long-term goals. It’s been a year of trusting my instincts, and realizing I’m capable of far more than I used to give myself credit for.
