We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Moniqueca Sims. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Moniqueca below.
Moniqueca, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I didn’t find my purpose in a single moment; it wasn’t a perfect plan, or a dream that came with instructions. My purpose revealed itself piece by piece, every time life put me in a situation where I had to choose between breaking down or breaking through.
I found my purpose the moment I realized that everything I survived wasn’t meant to make me hard; it was meant to make me useful.
My purpose didn’t appear as a career; It emerged as a calling to create opportunities where none existed.
It showed up every time a student told me nobody had ever believed in them before. It showed up every time a student told me that I was the only person who tried to help them.
It showed up the moment I realized that my own pain, my own rebuilding, my own grit could become someone else’s blueprint.
I found my purpose by serving. My purpose evolved from the conviction that my life matters more when other people’s lives are impacted because I exist.
So I didn’t find my purpose. I recognized it every time I chose to be the help, the guidance, the voice, and the opportunity I once prayed for. That’s how my purpose found me. And that’s how it continues to grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m an entrepreneur focused on changing lives through skill development and creating opportunities. I run SSG Appliance Academy, where we train people in hands-on appliance repair and help them step into careers that can truly shift their lives. What makes my work special is watching someone walk in unsure of themselves and walk out two weeks later with confidence, skills, and real job opportunities. That transformation is why I do what I do.
I also own Atlanta Appliance Angels, our appliance repair company that not only serves customers across the metro area but creates job opportunities for our graduates. Together, both businesses form a full circle: we train, we support, and we hire.
What I want people to know about my brand is this: we don’t just teach a trade; we build people. We create environments where individuals who were overlooked or underestimated can finally see what they’re capable of. That’s the heart of my work.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I look back, the three qualities that shaped my life the most are faith, resilience, and service.
1. Faith
My faith carried me long before my success did. Faith kept me moving when I had no idea how things would work out. It reminded me that I wasn’t building alone; I was guided, protected, and being prepared for a purpose, even in the darkest moments.
Advice:
Hold on to something bigger than yourself. Faith gives you strength on the days when your confidence doesn’t show up.
2. Resilience
Resilience came from surviving things I never thought I’d get through. It taught me that even when life shakes you, you can rebuild stronger than before.
Advice:
Let your struggles grow you, not harden you. Every time you rise, you become someone new.
3. Service
My life changed the moment I realized my purpose was tied to helping other people rise. Serving my students, supporting my community, and watching lives transform is the heartbeat of everything I do.
Advice:
Lead with service. When your heart is to help others, doors open that you never even knocked on.
Faith, resilience, and service didn’t just guide my journey; they gave it meaning.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely. The work I’m doing through SSG Appliance Academy has grown far beyond what one person can carry, and collaboration is the next chapter of our impact. I’m looking to connect with mission-aligned investors, community partners, and purpose-driven professionals who believe in creating real opportunity for people who have been overlooked or underestimated.
My academy is fully self-funded, and everything we’ve built has come from pure vision, sacrifice, and faith. But to expand our programs, scale our impact, and serve more students across Georgia and beyond, I’m seeking partners who see the value in workforce development, trades education, and second-chance pathways.
I’m also looking to build a strong, compassionate, skilled team—people who understand that we’re not just teaching appliances; we are transforming lives, families, and futures. I want to collaborate with individuals who lead with integrity, who are dependable, and who feel called to make a difference in the community.
If someone is reading this and feels aligned with our mission, I’m open to conversations and partnerships. Together, we can build something that lasts generations.
