We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Julissa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Julissa below.
Julissa , thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
I’m still early in my journey as a music artist, but I’ve really grown in my ability to take risks. For a long time, I kept holding myself back because I thought I needed to “look a certain way,” “have more money,” or “already know the right people” before I could even begin. Eventually, I realized that everyone starts somewhere and waiting for the “perfect moment” was just keeping me stuck.
Once it clicked that life is short and nothing will ever line up perfectly, I understood that the biggest risk was not trying at all. That’s when I decided to go for it, trust myself, and chase the dreams I’ve always had.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a music artist, and I’m so excited because I just released my first single, “Girls Night Out.” Making music has been a dream of mine for years, and finally taking the leap into releasing my own work has been such a full-circle moment.
This song is really special to me because it’s an ode to any girl who’s ever been in a toxic relationship and just needed that reminder to choose herself and have fun. It’s a feel good pop song with that you can play before a night out with your besties!
As someone just starting in the industry, I’m focused on growing my sound, collaborating with other creatives, and staying authentic in everything I put out. I’m also really excited to share that more music is on the way in early 2026, and I hope it resonates with people the way making it has resonated with me. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear what’s next.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think practice, patience, and believing in yourself have been the three most impactful qualities in my journey so far. Practice has been huge for me, not just vocally, but in writing, experimenting creatively, and putting myself out there through content and performances. Patience has also been essential. My talent manager told me, when you’re releasing music, you want everything to line up from timing to visuals to marketing and that takes planning. Learning to trust the process instead of rushing it has helped me create more confidently and stay organized. Believing in yourself is something that develops over time. For me, it really started when I accepted that I didn’t need to have everything perfect to begin. Once you decide to show up as the artist you want to be, everything else starts falling into place.
For anyone early in their journey, my biggest advice is to enjoy the process and put in the work. The in between moments are the ones you’ll remember, and the small wins matter just as much as the big ones. It’s a reminder to stay consistent and don’t get discouraged if things don’t go exactly as planned. Growth takes time, but watching yourself evolve is one of the best parts.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am currently looking for people to collaborate with. If you’re a music artist, producer, dancer, or content creator, I would love to collab! I want to have more of a community within the entertainment industry and help each other grow. If you’re interested please message me on Instagram @thejulissaj
