Meet Ambre

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ambre. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ambre, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

Keeping my creativity alive is one of the most important things to me.
I had the chance to grow up in a household where art was a priority—from books to theater, dance, cinema, photography, music, and art exhibitions. From a young age, I learned to appreciate and find beauty and purpose in all these forms of art.
Now that I’ve decided to make art my life, I still hold on to these principles. Staying open to all the ways art can express itself is the main way I keep my creativity alive. Whenever I see a show, listen to a great album, visit museums, or watch movies, I fall in love with art all over again.
To me, everything is deeply connected, and the emotions I feel in those spaces nourish my work, my dancing, and the depth of my artistry.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Born and raised in France, I started dancing at a young age, and my dance teacher—who supported me throughout my entire journey—encouraged me to apply to Steps On Broadway, a renowned dance school in New York City, I owe her a lot. At 18, I left home to pursue my dreams, train hard, and dive deeper into my craft.
Living and dancing in New York has been truly special and has shaped me in so many different ways. Through the training, I discovered myself and the kind of artist I aspire to become. I also have a strong connection to visual art (cinema, magazines, photography) and to fashion.
I want my art to awaken and portray human emotions, to have a strong impact, and I now know that’s the direction I want my career to take.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities that helped me the most were staying authentic to my true self, working hard with determination, and keeping an open mind that allows growth. These qualities have made a significant difference in how I see the world, my work, and myself—especially as an artist. Keep going despite the fear, and believe in yourselves.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My girlfriend has played — and continues to play — a big role in my personal and artistic growth. She’s amazing at reassuring me when I’m afraid, she understands me deeply (especially since she’s also an artist), and she brings so much into my life. She encourages me to be fearless, to trust myself, and to trust the process.
My family is also very present, and I can always count on them. Their wisdom and maturity make a big difference for me as well. They have believed in me since day one, and I know how lucky I am. One of my biggest strengths is having such inspiring people close to me.
