Meet Romina Oviedo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Romina Oviedo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Romina below.

Romina, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

I began studying music at a very young age. I started with the piano and later transitioned to the viola. I was accepted into the National Conservatory of Buenos Aires and then I had the privilege and honor of performing with some of Argentina’s finest orchestras.
I also got a scholarship from the Italian government, which allowed me to pursue advanced viola studies at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, Italy. There, as a representative of my conservatory, I had the opportunity to perform at the Vatican for Pope Benedict XVI.
None of this would have been possible without discipline. Music teaches you from an early age to study with method and perseverance. You must dedicate many hours a day to practicing your instrument.
Discipline and perseverance have been part of my life since childhood, and they have taught me that they are the only path to achieving any goal we set for ourselves—regardless of our natural talent.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As I mentioned before, I began playing the viola as a child and developed a professional career at a very young age—performing in orchestras, playing chamber music, teaching, and touring extensively both throughout my country and around the world. Thanks to this early start, I later had enough time to pursue two additional Bachelor degrees. I was deeply curious about Accounting and Law because I knew that having that knowledge would allow me to solve many everyday problems—not only my own, but also those of others.
After a long career advising companies and entrepreneurs in Argentina, I am now working with Latin American clients who want to invest in or expand their activities in the United States.
Holding a Master’s degree in Business Administration and having worked as a U.S. tax preparer for more than five years provide me with the tools needed to design the business and tax strategies each client requires, depending on their goals in the U.S.
What I love most about my work is helping people gain clarity when they don’t know where to begin. Expanding operations from Latin America to the U.S. is not easy, but it is certainly possible.
Thanks to my education and my professional experience in the United States, I have a strong understanding of both markets and I am able to guide clients toward making the best decisions.
What truly makes my work special is my deep empathy and ability to understand my clients’ fears and doubts. I’ve already gone through the experience of expanding my own professional services from Argentina to the U.S., so I know exactly what the process involves. My support is comprehensive and begins from the very first consultation.
Each person comes with a unique story that deserves to be heard, and each idea must be carefully planned and projected according to their individual expectations.
Last week, we launched a new brand image for OPC Taxes, our Consulting, Tax, and Accounting firm and we are very excited about this new chapter.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that had the greatest impact on my journey were continuous learning, passion-driven focus, and having a clear long-term goal.
First, continuous learning has been essential. From music to business, law, and accounting, every stage of my life has taught me that continuing education never really ends. The world changes quickly, and staying curious and committed to learning allows you to adapt, grow, and open new doors. My advice is simple: invest time in your education—formal or informal—and never stop acquiring new skills focused on your specialization. Even small and consistent steps compound over time.
Second, following what genuinely excites you is one of the most powerful ways to build a meaningful career. I studied Accounting and Law because I found them very useful for everyday life; later, those decisions gave me the tools I needed to help others. When you choose fields that spark your interest, the effort feels lighter and the learning becomes a natural part of your daily life. If you are at the beginning of your journey, listen to your instincts and explore the subjects that inspire you—you will work harder and better when you are connected to what you do.
Finally, having a clear goal has always guided me forward. Whether it was becoming a professional musician or later expanding my career to the United States, having a purpose helped me stay focused even during challenging moments. A goal doesn’t have to be perfect or permanent, but it should motivate you and give direction to your efforts. Define what you want, revisit it very often, and let it evolve with you.
If I could give just one piece of advice, it would be to never stop learning—follow the subjects that genuinely inspire you and keep a clear goal in front of you, because passion and purpose are what sustain growth over the long term.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

Every client is unique. Each one is special because they bring their own stories, their own plans, and their own visions for their businesses. That’s why I believe they all deserve our full attention and dedication.
At our consulting firm, we provide a fully personalized service. Our team is composed of highly qualified professionals—from real estate agents who assist with planning and property acquisitions, to attorneys who advise clients on investment visas when they are considering relocating to the United States with their families to manage their businesses.
One essential aspect is that our clients must trust us and delegate the management of their finances. This allows them to focus exclusively on growing their businesses according to their own goals and criteria.
Beyond that, an ideal client is someone who values clarity, transparency, and long-term planning. We work best with individuals and companies who are committed to building solid, sustainable foundations for their projects in the U.S. market. When a client is open to guidance, willing to share their concerns, and proactive about asking questions, we can create strategies that truly support their objectives. Ultimately, the ideal client is not defined by their industry or size, but by their willingness to collaborate and by their desire to grow with purpose.
