Meet Rocquel

We recently connected with Rocquel and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rocquel, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

My self-discipline comes from my source which is God and motherhood. Being a mom is something that has become the force of everything I do from my nonprofit Learn Reading EZ Hub Inc, Content Creating, and working in the education industry. My kids inspire me, not only to reach new heights but to be the example that the sky is the limit. Therefore, my self discipline often consist of sticking to a routine, walking in my purpose and remaining true to who I am ensuring that I’m allowing God to govern all my paths.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m known on social media as “Bucketlistmommi” I’m a content creator, a nonprofit founder and an editor by day. My brand embodies the idea of “just a woman in her element”. I enjoy creating content centered around traveling, self love and women empowerment through different videos on my Youtube Channel Bucketlistmommi. In addition to content creating, I’m the founder of a nonprofit called “Learn Reading EZ Hub Inc” focused on serving free reading tutoring services for students grades Prek-5 that are facing homeliness or struggling academically in reading. From my brand there’s great things on the horizon coming such as my “Cozy Convos” Podcast releasing on my YouTube Channel as well as Learn Reading EZ Hub Inc Annual Reading Kickback Event!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back I think the three qualities that were the most impactful to my journey was obedience, patience and my faith. I think a lot of times as we navigate through life we find ourselves battling with our present and future while trying to forget our past. Throughout my journey I’ve learned how to have faith in my future by accepting my past mistakes, experiences, wounds or failed attempts. Being patient and obedient allowed me to get in alignment with things destined for me. I would tell anyone that’s walking on a similar journey as me I would tell them to TAKE RISK! Apply to the job to learn a new skills, go after the brand deal, go back to school, do whatever your heart desires because for after every lost comes a win after and for every failed attempt is courage built from within!

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Ahh! I love reading lol in fact, I promote this book by John Mason all the time called “40 Questions to Change Your Life”. This book has been such a vital part of my growth this season because it causes you to get up close and personal with the “uncomfortable questions or events” that may have occurred in your life or that you rarely discuss. Books like “40 Questions to Change Your Life” focuses primarily on self development and having a strong relationship with God. In the book he highlights the importance of forgiveness, taking risk, walking in your purpose, the power in making and keeping meaningful relationships/friendships and trusting yourself first. I highly recommend this as a must read.
