We recently connected with Eliana Benigar and have shared our conversation below.
Eliana , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I left my home in Patagonia when I was 17 years old. Coming from a small town and looking back now, more than ten years later, I can see how much life has shaped me. I’ve lived in many cities, and in each place I’ve had to rebuild, adapt, and keep moving forward while building my career.
For me, resilience comes from strength and from trusting that everything will work out, but also from hard work and a focused, disciplined mindset. Discipline isn’t something most of us are born with; I believe it’s a skill we develop by consistently doing the difficult things. Over time, that becomes our foundation.
I’ve learned to believe in myself, in my abilities, and in the purpose that brought me here. And I try to push myself to be uncomfortable every day, even when life feels comfortable, I do something, even a small task that would make me uncomfortable, because that’s where real growth happens.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
When I moved to Los Angeles in 2016, I started with a small short-term rental business, managing properties for people I knew from school and within my network. Over time, that experience naturally led me deeper into real estate, and during the COVID pandemic in 2020, I became a licensed real estate broker in Los Angeles.
In 2022, driven by the desire to grow and experience something new, I moved to New York City and continued my career as a licensed real estate broker there.
Before relocating to NYC, I went through a difficult breakup while living in California. I moved into a new apartment on my own and wanted to create a space that felt uplifting, fresh, and full of positive energy. That personal moment led me to take Feng Shui classes, and in 2021, I became a certified consultant. When I eventually moved to New York, I brought that passion with me and opened a small studio called Elite Feng Shui, using Only Feng Shui as my online branding.
Arriving in the city made me truly understand how vital mental clarity and emotional balance are, especially in such fast-paced environments and tiny living spaces. Many New Yorkers carry the chaos of the city straight into their homes, and I saw immediately how transforming a space can transform someone’s entire life. A harmonious home can create a stronger sense of well-being, more focus, and greater success in their careers and personal goals.
Today, while I run my Feng Shui studio, I also remain an active real estate broker in Manhattan with Douglas Elliman.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most important skills I’ve learned from life start with self-discipline. I believe it’s the number one skill, and as I mentioned before, it’s something we develop over time (not something we’re all naturally born with, maybe some people are gifted with that, but I was definitely not). Discipline has shaped every part of my journey.
I’ve also learned the importance of being a person of trust and integrity. These qualities matter deeply in life, and they are essential for any business you want to build. Another skill that took me time to develop is being on time; it sounds simple, but it reflects respect, reliability, and professionalism.
I’ve learned to understand when it’s the right moment to take action and when it’s better to step back. And one of the biggest lessons has been recognizing that anxiety often comes from avoiding what needs to be done. When we take action, even small steps, the anxiety starts to disappear.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Thinking for myself is something my parents taught me from a very young age. They always told me: Don’t let anyone come and tell you who you are or what your story should be; think for yourself first. That lesson has stayed with me throughout my life.
When we allow everyone around us to influence our decisions, we lose control of our own path. We end up living according to someone else’s expectations, and that “someone else” usually has their own agenda. Learning to think independently has helped me stay grounded, make better choices, and stay aligned with my purpose.
