We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Mitchell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence was not something I stumbled into. It is something I built, layer by layer, through every season of my life. I grew up surrounded by women who knew how to turn struggle into softness and grit into grace. Watching them taught me early that confidence is not loud. It is lived.
For me, it started with honoring the pieces of myself I used to overlook. I learned to celebrate my strengths, confront my insecurities with honesty, and give myself permission to evolve. Motherhood strengthened me. Entrepreneurship sharpened me. Faith anchored me. And every time life stretched me, I discovered a new version of myself that I did not know existed.
What people see today is a woman who has done the work both internally and externally. I had to unlearn perfectionism, embrace vulnerability, and trust that God did not give me a calling just to watch me shrink. Confidence came when I stopped trying to be everything for everyone and chose to be fully present for myself.
My self-esteem is rooted in understanding that I am still becoming. Every day I choose to show up as the woman I am proud of, even on the days I am still figuring her out.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the owner of Ashley Mitchell Salon and Spa and a business coach in the beauty industry. Everything I do centers around transformation. In the salon, we specialize in healthy textured hair, luxury guest experience, and education. In my consulting work, I help salon and spa owners build profitable businesses with strong systems, clear leadership, and culture that supports growth.
What excites me most is watching people step into their potential. I love helping stylists gain confidence, helping owners create structure, and helping clients feel beautiful from the inside out. My work is special because it is not just technical. It blends heart, high standards, strategy, and personal development.
Right now I am expanding every part of my brand. The salon is developing advanced training programs. My consulting company is launching new workshops and coaching experiences. I am also building a stronger lifestyle brand through speaking, digital education, and the release of my upcoming magazine. Everything I create is designed to inspire, elevate, and empower anyone who connects with it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey the most were resilience, discipline, and emotional intelligence. Resilience allowed me to get back up every time life shifted. Discipline helped me stay committed to the vision even on the days when motivation was nowhere to be found. Emotional intelligence taught me how to lead people, understand myself, and build relationships that truly support growth.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple. Build resilience by giving yourself permission to fail and learn quickly. Strengthen your discipline by choosing small daily habits that align with the person you want to become. And develop emotional intelligence by staying curious instead of reactive. Ask questions, listen deeply, and pay attention to your own patterns.
Success is not about being perfect. It is about becoming self-aware, staying consistent, and trusting that every season is preparing you for the next one.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am absolutely open to new collaborations, especially opportunities to teach, speak, or help teams grow. I am actively seeking more speaking engagements, strategy days, and workshops for beauty professionals, small business owners, corporate teams, and creative entrepreneurs. My passion is helping people elevate their mindset, strengthen their systems, and build cultures that support real success.
I love collaborating with individuals and brands who value excellence, intentionality, and transformation. I work best with partners who want to inspire their teams, refine their processes, and create meaningful impact in the spaces they serve.
If you are interested in bringing me in for an event, workshop, or strategy experience, you can connect with me on Instagram at @theashleymitchell or email me at [email protected]
