Meet Tia

We were lucky to catch up with Tia recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tia, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

Regarding my creativity, song writing, and releasing songs. I’ve always felt that if you are ever given the chance to be blessed with an idea from God or the universe (like a song idea), that it is your duty to carry out that vision for the world to see/ hear/ feel. Otherwise, the universe will find another vessel to get the message or idea out. So I try not to listen to what anyone has to say about me or my creations because, they are supposed to exist. I believe creating art as authentic as possible is the key, and to not let others opinions affect the creation process. It’s coming through you/ from you, for a reason. I must create and then show the world what I create exactly as it is given to me in my thoughts. Even if I only ever impact one person by my art, I’ve done my job and created something for the world.

As far as being myself and doing the things that I love and that make me who I am, I pretend my life is a movie and nothing else matters except for my ending. So I go through life asking myself: “What would the audience be screaming at you through the screen?” “What would they be screaming at you to so obviously do next?” In movies the audience roots for the main character, which is you in your life. The answer to that question is usually uncomfortable and scary, but the most rewarding. I make decisions for my character’s story, not the supporting roles.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a music artist. I write, produce, and sing my own songs. I release them on all platforms for the world to hear. I also film and edit a music video to go with each one. My favorite part of the process is the writing part. First I’ll hear something in my brain, whether it’s a piano melody, some lyrics, or a beat pattern. Sometimes I’m driving, shopping for groceries, or just laying in bed when I receive these ‘downloads’ in my mind. I always record a video/voice note so that I don’t forget it by the time I’m able to get to working on it. And then from there pieces are added little by little over the course of either a few minutes or a few months until an entire song has been created. It’s crazy to think that at one point your song didn’t exist, and then it does. All because you’re the one to bring it to life, starting with one initial thought. That’s so cool to me. I also really enjoy telling a story with the visuals for social media and through a music video. I get to tell a story with my music and have fun acting it out on camera.

All of my music, cover photos, and music videos created from scratch, so they don’t sound like anything I’ve ever heard before. I like being different. I like setting the stage for something new, authentic, and real. No one else is me, and no one else can tell my story the way I can. And I am so grateful I get to do it all through music and art.

My music is about my life and the things I go through. I’m real and relatable and I aim to be as open as possible with my writing. I have new music dropping January 2, 2026. You can find me on all platforms, just search: Tia Buonavolonta. I’m so excited for what I have been writing and working on as of lately. I’m getting into more of a hip hop sound, more rapping, and I’ve been experimenting with my vocals and lyrics. I’m really starting to own and know who I am as an artist, and how I want my music to sound and feel. I love what I’ve been working on and I can’t wait for you to hear.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Staying authentic and resourceful, having the willingness to learn, and also having the audacity to try are what have impacted my music journey the most. Being you will always make the difference between you and someone else or another artist. No one can do the things you can do in the way that you do them. So that’s why it could be you who’s successful in this industry. Do what you can with what you have. You would be pleasantly surprised to see what you can create with the bare minimum of tools and experience. You just need to create a feeling for people, it’s not about being perfect. With that being said, you have to be ready and willing to learn how to do the things you want to do. Without learning, trying, or failing on your own, growth and success cannot happen. YouTube is amazing for learning things for free. Once you’ve learned what you need to learn, you have to try! You have to create, you have to put yourself and your art out there and risk being seen. Otherwise how will the world see or hear your beautiful art? Take the risk or think about taking the risk for the rest of your life.

My advice to those early in their journeys, would be to experiment. Experiment with sounds, other artists, beat patterns, different noises you can make with your voice, etc. Even if it’s scary. You’ll find out the things you love for your music, through knowing what you don’t love. The only way to do that is to experiment and act accordingly.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The Creative Act by Rick Rubin has truly changed me as a human and has made me a better creative being. Therefore it has transformed me into a better artist.

The book basically expresses that everyone is meant to create, and everyone can create. Also stating that just by being in harmony with yourself as a human being, it will allow you to create or tap into creating more easily. This book has so much value with tips, ideas, and suggestions on living a peaceful and joyful life to be able to create things more easily, as well as tips to improve your creating processes and to try different things to reach different results.

The book doesn’t tell you how to create anything or how to be creative. It gives you ideas and the capabilities to be in a state where creation will just happen simply by being. It truly has improved the way I look at music and song writing, and has taught me that life is not that serious and most of everything that is loved by humans is because of the feeling that comes from it.
