Meet Guri Stark

We were lucky to catch up with Guri Stark recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Guri, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

After 40+ years in high-tech, I now focus on my life-long hobbies which are painting, playing music, writing and teaching art history. I find that art and music are the common denominator to all people around the world. Everyone love art and music regardless of who they are and what their religions or opinions are.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I paint in watercolors. My style is expressionistic – expressing my feelings, thoughts and dreams. I play classical and spanish guitar music which is penetrating my heart. I write historical fiction novellas which describe my life experiences and I teach art hostiry in a way that brings are to life. I love traveling the world and learnig about new cultures. I also spend significant amount of time volunteering in the community for causes that are close to my heart.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Knowledge of art and music history. Curiosity to always research and learn more.
Deep passion for what I do. Tenacity to keep going, keep practicing, keep learning, keep doing…
The beliefe that age is not a barrier if you find passion in what you do. The real secret lies in keeping your curiosity alive and continuing to learn.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

I started learning and playing classical guitar at the age of 68. I wanted to learn somthing new. Something I have not tried before. I decided that my age should not be the limiting factor. Now, after 4 years of working very hard and practicing every day, I feel that I achieved something – which fills me with pride and satisfaction
