We were lucky to catch up with Adonis King recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adonis , thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
I prioritize self-care by making sure I get 7-8 hours of sleep every night and taking mental health rest days. I also maintain a healthy work-life balance by setting clear boundaries with my fitness business and scheduling personal time for myself.


Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Adonis King, and I am from Harlem, New York. In 2020, during the pandemic, I started my own business, Adonis Fitness LLC. I’ve been an online fitness coach and personal trainer since then. Since then, I’ve helped over 1000 men and women lose 20-30 pounds, lose fat, and build muscle in just 90 days. I once was 75lbs overweight and I made a commitment to myself to take control of my health. Since day one l have had a desire to learn about nutrition, health, and how I can use that to impact people’s lives. Fitness is my passion and being able to use what I love to coach and transform others is amazing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As a personal trainer and fitness coach, I possess several essential skills and qualities. These include strong communication, interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of exercise science and nutrition, and exceptional motivational and empathetic abilities.
For anyone aspiring to become a personal trainer, one crucial skill is the ability to motivate clients. Great personal trainers have the power to help their clients overcome challenges and stay committed to their fitness goals, even when they feel at their breaking point. This skill is crucial, regardless of whether you train clients individually or in groups. You must be able to engage, communicate effectively, and manage your clients.
Another important aspect of personal training is maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions with clients. It’s crucial to understand the difference between speaking to an employee and a customer, as this will help you deliver the best possible service. If you recognize that your people skills could be improved, it’s essential to take proactive steps to enhance them as soon as possible

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
One of the current challenges I’m facing is now is managing my time. Balancing my career, fitness business, and modeling gigs can be overwhelming. However, structuring my life is crucial for my success. Planning my daily schedule on my iPhone has helped me.
