Meet Samuel Enyi

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Samuel Enyi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Samuel, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

I just keep doing exactly what they hate the most. So long as I’m at peace with what I do, I keep going regardless.

It’s never been about them, if it was I’d be talking about them not them talking about me.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m an international Dj and record producer focused on Afrohouse, dance & house music. I’ve been DJing since 2008 even before college and becoming a pilot.

Since 2023 I’ve been on the road playing and making music. Ranging from opening & closing sets for Alicia Keys, Libianca, Bryson Tiller, PartyNextDoor, Smino, etc. Also hosted Teddy Swims Private Rooftop Party in Minneapolis Minnesota. In all I played across the United States, Australia, South America, Canada, Asia & Africa. We’ve pretty much played across the world.

I’m currently in Nigeria working on various music project after finishing my new book “She Spins The Future” which is a complete DJ guide from bedroom to Pro DJ at festivals. We also started a movement called Afrohouse In Lagos which is a collective of Afrohouse DJs and producers working together to strengthen the space.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three most important skills for me is networking, computer knowledge & God.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m open to collaborating with talented folks out there. In this mainstream world we need to give people a chance. I’m more into underground and discovering good music. Basically it’s an open arms for creatives across the globe to collaborate. As mentioned earlier I’m into house & dance music, if you have the vibe connect with me on social media let’s work!
