We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiara Wiley-King a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiara, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from the women and men who raised me. I come from a two-parent household where my dad was the protector and my mom was the steady force. When my father passed, I watched my mother transform overnight into the breadwinner, the backbone, and the problem-solver. Seeing her shift like that taught me early on that life doesn’t pause when things get hard — you rise, you adjust, and you keep moving.
That same mindset followed me through 20+ years in healthcare and every chapter of my life since. Becoming an NP, building multiple businesses — Vis Ta Vie Wellness & Spa, King’s Nursing & HomeCare, and King’s Advanced Wound & Foot Solutions — none of that came easy. I’ve had panic attacks, setbacks, people counting me out, and moments where I felt stretched thin. But every time I get knocked down, something in me says, “No ma’am, get back up — you’ve got people depending on you.”
My son is a huge part of that. He’s watching me build all this. He’s watching me reinvent myself, even when I’m tired. And I want him to know that his mother didn’t just survive hard seasons — I built entire companies out of them.
So my resilience?
It comes from legacy, loss, love, and faith — and from a deep belief that my purpose is bigger than any obstacle. I’m built for this. And everything I’ve created is proof of that.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
So, a little about me? I’m an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner who somehow turned one passion into three thriving businesses — and I’m still adding more because that’s just who I am. I’m the owner of Vis Ta Vie Wellness & Spa, King’s Nursing & HomeCare, and King’s Advanced Wound & Foot Solutions. Basically, I help people heal, glow, feel good, and get the care they need — all in different ways.
At Vis Ta Vie Wellness & Spa, we’re all about helping people feel confident in their skin. Medical weight loss, wellness injections, LipoDissolve, IV therapy — if it helps you feel lighter, healthier, or a little more “that girl,” I’m here for it. I love seeing clients walk in nervous and walk out like, “Okayyyy, I’m fine!” That energy gives me life.
At King’s Nursing & HomeCare, we serve some of the most vulnerable people in our community through personal care, skilled nursing, mental health services, and 1915(i) care. It’s serious work, but it’s also deeply rewarding. We meet people where they are — literally and emotionally — and make sure they feel supported, respected, and safe.
And then there’s King’s Advanced Wound & Foot Solutions, my pride and joy. This is where 20+ years of wound care experience meets my love for doing things differently. We bring advanced wound care straight to homebound clients. No long waits, no transportation struggles — just real care, right where they need it. And believe me, when you help someone finally get relief from a wound they’ve been suffering with for months? That gratitude hits different.
What makes my work exciting is that no two days look the same. Some days I’m helping someone hit their weight loss goals, other days I’m in full clinical mode treating chronic wounds, and some days I’m coaching another NP on how to build a business of their own. I get to blend healthcare, wellness, education, and entrepreneurship — and it feels good to wake up and know I’m making real impact.
And yes, I stay busy — but I love every minute of it.
On the fun side?
I’m launching a podcast called Healing on the Move, where we’re talking life, business, self-care, and how to pour back into yourself when the world is draining you dry. And I’m teaching other clinicians how to start their own mobile wound care practices through my Mobile Wound Care Business Launch Program. I’m in my “help everybody eat” era.
We’re also expanding our service areas, leveling up our wellness packages, and bringing more mobile wound care options to North Carolina. Big things are happening on every side.
At the end of the day, everything I do comes back to one thing: helping people feel better — inside, outside, and in their everyday lives. And if I can sprinkle a little warmth, a little joy, and a little Tiara magic into the world while I do it? Even better.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey the most were resilience, resourcefulness, and relationship-building. Those three carried me through every career shift, every business launch, and every moment when I felt like giving up but didn’t.
1. Resilience — the “get back up” muscle.
Life will knock you down. Business will knock you down harder. What changed everything for me was learning how to pause, breathe, cry if I needed to, and then stand back up with a plan. I didn’t get here because everything went right — I got here because I refused to let the wrong things stop me.
Advice: Start small. Build resilience the same way you build strength in the gym — one rep at a time. Push through one tough moment, then another, and suddenly you’re the strongest person you know.
2. Resourcefulness — figuring it out even when you don’t know how.
I didn’t have a guidebook when I opened Vis Ta Vie, King’s Nursing & HomeCare, or King’s Advanced Wound & Foot Solutions. I Googled, asked questions, made mistakes, found mentors, prayed, cried, tried again, and created my own blueprint.
Advice: Don’t wait to “feel ready.” Start where you are, use what you have, and learn the rest along the way. Curiosity is a superpower — use it.
3. Relationship-Building — knowing people is as important as knowing information.
My collaborations, opportunities, and growth didn’t come from luck — they came from relationships. Treating people well, following up, being consistent, and genuinely caring opened doors that skills alone couldn’t.
Advice: Build authentic connections. Check in on people without needing something. Network like a human, not a robot. And remember: your name will reach rooms your feet haven’t stepped into yet.
At the end of the day, my biggest advice is this:
Don’t shrink. Don’t wait. Don’t talk yourself out of your own potential.
Start now, learn as you grow, and let your journey evolve you. If someone like me — a mom, an NP, a woman who rebuilt herself through anxiety, loss, and pressure — can create multiple businesses and still have room for more, then trust me… you can too.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been learning how to choose myself without feeling guilty about it. I’ve spent most of my life in “go mode” — being the provider, the fixer, the caretaker, the leader, the one who always figures it out. But this year required a different version of me. I had to learn how to slow down, listen to my body, protect my peace, and make decisions that actually supported my well-being.
That shift changed everything.
Because the moment I started putting myself back on my own priority list, my businesses started growing in healthier ways. Vis Ta Vie stepped into its luxury wellness era. King’s Nursing & HomeCare expanded its service lines. King’s Advanced Wound & Foot Solutions grew into a true powerhouse. And I stepped fully into my role as a mentor and educator for other clinicians building mobile wound care practices.
But the real growth?
It was emotional.
It was personal.
It was learning how to breathe again — literally and figuratively.
I learned to give myself permission to rest, to regulate my anxiety, to stop overworking for validation, and to set boundaries without explaining them. I learned that I don’t have to be everywhere for everyone to be effective. I can show up as me — healed, centered, and intentional — and that version of me is enough.
This past year taught me that success without self-care is just burnout wearing lipstick.
And I’m done with that era.
I’m in my “soft but successful,” “peace and profit,” “healing and handling business” season — and it feels good.
