We recently connected with Tanner Beard and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Tanner with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic for sure came from my parents, They worked so hard when I was growing up but were also still always there as parents like for ball games and school and were so involved, so I really appreciate that and think that trickled down I hope.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Tanner Beard — an actor, director, producer, and writer who’s lucky enough to work in just about every corner of the filmmaking world. Most recently I’ve been part of the series Landman, which has been an incredible experience and a reminder of why I love what I do: storytelling that’s grounded, human, and gives audiences a world they can disappear into.
What excites me most about my work is the range of roles I get to play, not just on screen but behind the camera. Acting lets me inhabit someone else’s truth, while directing and producing allow me to help shape the entire creative vision. Each discipline challenges me in a different way, and I think bouncing between them keeps me sharp, curious, and constantly learning. At the end of the day, everything I do is about building stories that connect with people — whether they inspire, entertain, or just give someone a moment to breathe.
As for my brand I started a production company called Silver Sail Entertainment to create the kind of art with heart, grit, a sense humor and a sense of adventure. I love balancing grounded, character-driven work with big-world filmmaking that has a touch of spectacle. I try to bring authenticity, collaboration, and a little bit of West Texas spirit to everything I make.
In terms of what’s new, I’ve been continuing to develop and produce projects that I’m really excited about, both in front of and behind the camera. Be on the look out for Blood Behind Us, Fly Me To The Earth and Once Upon A Time In Texas. I’m always pushing into new creative territory, and there are a few things on the horizon that I can’t wait to share when the time is right.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that have made the biggest impact on my journey outside of just loving Movies are persistence, curiosity, and collaboration. Persistence keeps you moving forward when the path gets tough — and it will. Curiosity pushes you to keep learning and growing, whether that’s as an actor, filmmaker, or storyteller. And collaboration reminds you that this industry is a team sport; the best work comes from surrounding yourself with people who elevate the project.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple: show up consistently, stay open to learning, and build real relationships. Keep honing your craft, say yes to opportunities that challenge you, and treat everyone with respect — you never know who you’ll meet again on the next set.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Over the past year, my biggest area of growth has been learning to balance creativity with intentionality — choosing projects more thoughtfully and trusting my instincts more deeply. I’ve also grown in how I lead and collaborate behind the camera, making the creative process smoother and more meaningful for everyone involved.
