We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Martinez Finney. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Martinez below.
Hi Martinez, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Honestly, my resilience comes from everything I’ve lived through. Growing up, my parents divorced, and I watched my mom raise my brother and me on her own. I saw her struggle, but I never once saw her quit, and that stuck with me.
I’ve been through heartbreaks, dealt with racism, and the most recent one was tearing my Achilles. Having to relearn how to walk and fight through the mental side of that tested me in ways I didn’t expect.
But every time life hits me, I go back to what I saw as a kid, my mom finding a way. It taught me that no matter what comes, I can push through it. That’s where my resilience comes from.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Professionally, I do a lot of different things, but everything I do comes back to one thing: impact. I’m a writer, a model, and an aspiring actor, and each lane gives me a different way to tell stories and encourage people to chase their dreams. Writing has become one of my biggest passions. I love creating books, building characters, and putting out messages that inspire people, especially kids, to believe in themselves and keep going no matter what life throws at them.
Modeling and acting give me another creative outlet. I enjoy stepping into new roles, expressing emotion, and bringing energy and confidence to every project. It has helped me grow, become more disciplined, and learn how to show up with purpose.
I have always been a dream chaser. The corporate desk life was never for me. I knew early on I was built to create, to inspire, and to move with passion. I am at my best when I am building something from the ground up and using my gifts to motivate people.
One thing that means a lot to me is coaching kids. I love encouraging them, pushing them, and helping them see what they are capable of. Growing up, I did not always have someone telling me I could be great, so I try to be that voice for them. Seeing them gain confidence and grow as athletes and as people is one of the best parts of what I do.
What makes my work special is that everything I am building, from books to creative projects, comes from a place of inspiration. I want my story and my art to motivate people to dream bigger, stay resilient, and step into their purpose. And I have a lot of new things coming: more children’s books, digital products, and creative projects I am excited to share soon.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that your dreams are real, your purpose is real, and with the right mindset, you can change your whole life.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three biggest qualities that shaped my journey were integrity, confidence, and loyalty. Those three things kept me grounded and moving forward even when life got heavy.
Integrity has always been important to me. No matter what I do, I want my name and my character to mean something. Confidence came with time. I had to learn how to believe in myself even when nobody else did. And loyalty is just who I am at the core. I stand by the people I love, and I stay committed to the things I start.
For anyone early in their journey, my biggest advice is this: if your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough. My mom hammered that into me growing up, and it stuck with me. Do not shrink your dreams to match your situation. Grow your faith, your effort, and your mindset to match the dream.
Work on your integrity by keeping your word. Build confidence by showing up every day, even in small ways. Strengthen your loyalty by being the kind of person people can count on. If you do that, and if you chase the dream that scares you a little, you will surprise yourself with how far you can go.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
If I knew I only had a decade left, I would spend it with my wife, my kids, and the people I care about most in the world. I’d pour into my family, make memories, travel, laugh, love hard, and be present for every moment.
I’d focus on impact, purpose, and making sure my family feels supported, inspired, and covered. Everything else would come second.
