We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anna Bloom. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anna below.

Anna, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

How do you keep your creativity alive?

My art is rooted in the belief that nature provides harmony, balance, and renewal — so it’s no surprise that it has become my deepest and most constant source of inspiration. Its perfectly balanced forms, colors, and rhythms speak to me on a level that feels almost spiritual. I truly believe nature carries a high-frequency energy — subtle yet powerful — that helps us heal, recharge, and reconnect with ourselves. When I’m outdoors, I feel grounded and uplifted at the same time. The softness of a petal, the strength of a tree trunk, the way light moves across water — these small moments remind me of resilience, beauty, and harmony.
When I create, I try to capture not just the appearance of nature but the emotion behind it — its calm, its strength, its gentle encouragement to slow down and breathe. Ultimately, my goal is to create pieces that go beyond decoration. I want my work to offer a sense of peace, balance, and presence — the same quiet clarity you feel when you pause to take in the world around you.

Experimentation is also an important part of my creative process. I work with diverse materials — foam, wire, paper, fabric, and acrylic — embracing the playfulness of discovery. I’m fascinated by contrasts: the delicacy of petals against rough textures, soft pastels beside deep, intense tones. When these opposites come together, they create a deeper harmony and remind me that beauty often emerges from balance and tension. Every piece begins as an exploration, and the most fulfilling moment is when it starts to take on a life of its own, guiding me toward its final shape and spirit.
Another major source of inspiration for me is mindset — the way we choose to see life, challenges, and the experiences that shape us. Everything shifted for me when I stopped viewing challenges as problems and started seeing them as lessons. That small shift transformed my day-to-day life.
There was a time when I lived in constant stress and frustration. Going through a divorce after 17 years of marriage was one of the hardest chapters I’ve faced, and during that period my creativity completely shut down. I realized I can’t create from a place of exhaustion and emotional chaos. If I wanted my freedom, joy, and creativity back, I had to shift my mindset — otherwise I risked losing myself and hurting the people I love, including my children.
That realization became a turning point. I understood that we aren’t here to stay stuck or broken; we are here to grow, to evolve, to rediscover ourselves. So I began with myself — my thoughts, my reactions, my inner dialogue — and as I changed, everything around me slowly changed too. I truly believe that challenges carry messages meant to guide us toward healing or growth. When you see them that way, they stop blocking your creativity and begin feeding it.

Finally, staying creative means staying emotionally charged. I seek out the things that restore my energy and make me feel connected — often simple, everyday moments like watching shadows shift, listening to the rain, or catching a sunrise. My most trusted sources of inspiration are travel, hiking, and wildlife photography. They open me up, sharpen my awareness, and help me notice beauty I might otherwise overlook.
Trying something new can also spark fresh creativity. I had never danced before, but after moving to Florida four years ago, I decided to try — and it became a true joy in my life. That sense of freedom now feeds my creative energy in unexpected ways.
For me, the rule is simple: if I want my creativity to bloom, I need to stay emotionally charged. I can’t create from stress, exhaustion, or unhappiness. My creativity thrives when I do the things that make me feel alive.
My advice for anyone reading this: give yourself the chance to slow down and notice what genuinely lifts your spirit. Enjoy the little things. Follow your curiosity. Try something new without overthinking it. Creativity grows naturally when your heart is open and your energy is renewed. Be kind to yourself — a nourished you is a creative you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a passionate mixed-media artist based in Naples, Florida, and the founder of AnnasBloomDecor — a studio dedicated to bringing the beauty of nature into contemporary interiors. Specializing in nature-inspired art lamps, sculptural designs, and wall art, I work with materials such as foam, metal, fabric, paper, and paint to explore themes of balance, transformation, and texture.
In my work, I aim to create pieces that evoke emotion — art that brings peace, happiness, and a sense of tranquility into a space. I want my creations to feel like a breath of calm, a moment of beauty people can return to again and again.
Nature has always been my deepest source of inspiration, especially flowers. They hold a delicate balance between elegance and complexity, strength and fragility. Their shapes, textures, and colors guide much of my creative process, and many of my pieces naturally reflect that connection.
Even though floral themes appear often in my work, I remain open and curious. I love exploring new mediums, forms, and techniques, allowing my creativity to grow and evolve. For me, art is a lifelong journey — a blend of everything I’ve lived, learned, and felt along the way.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my new Waves Series, exploring movement, texture, and flow in a fresh, contemporary way. I’m also preparing for several art shows in Florida, as well as the Carrousel du Louvre art fair in Paris — an exciting new chapter for my studio and artistic journey.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities have been most impactful in my journey: resilience, curiosity, and emotional awareness.

Resilience & Mindset: Learning to see challenges as lessons instead of obstacles completely changed my life and my creativity. My advice is to reframe difficulties by asking, “What is this teaching me?” Small shifts in perspective build strength and keep your creativity open.

Curiosity & Experimentation: Exploration has been at the heart of my work — trying new materials, forms, and techniques helped me discover my unique voice. My advice: stay curious, experiment without fear, and let mistakes guide your growth.

Emotional Awareness & Energy Management: I create my best work when I’m emotionally present, calm, and energized. My advice: prioritize habits that restore your energy — nature, movement, quiet reflection — because a nourished mind and body are essential for creativity to thrive.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I’ve been fortunate to have several people who’ve shaped and supported me through challenges. My parents gave me a foundation of love and values that continue to guide me. My ex-husband became one of my greatest teachers — even though our journey was difficult, he played a profound role in turning me back toward myself and taught me resilience, self-awareness, and the importance of inner freedom. My daughters are another constant source of inspiration, teaching me patience, courage, and unconditional love every day. I’m also grateful for the like-minded people who enter my life at the right moments, offering support, inspiration, and a sense of community. All of these connections have been essential in helping me grow and navigate life’s challenges.
