Meet Jasmine Scott Aka JCS

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Scott Aka JCS. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jasmine , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

My self discipline comes from examining MYSELF and never comparing what others do. There’s no point in that.

Once I realize where I went wrong, I go back and try again. I tell myself it’s alright, and I prefer to be patient. I prefer taking my time because the result is always greater than when I rush – like a build up. Fleeting moments won’t get you far, and you can end up making major mistakes in the long run.

So I remind myself that patience is key, a job well done is appreciated, and that it’s okay to do it again.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’ve been a professional writer since 2012, having self published all of my work. Alongside that, I do the artwork – and marketing for my social media pages.

I own the rights for my pseudonym, JCS, and I really love being self made.

This year has been epic! I was inducted into the Marquis Who’s Who of Emerging leaders, and my upcoming novel, The Fray, has well over 350k views on Facebook and Instagram, and over 7k reads on my website – which is why I love what I do! My novel took a huge chunk out of my time, and I’m so glad I gave myself time and postponed the release date!

I am newly an Influencer through Facebook and Amazon – something offered during the late summer! It’s a new venture, but I have a lot of fun. Fashion and beauty are huge for me, so doing what I love fits right in. From subscribers, to monetizing…it is exactly what I asked for.

So many wonderful things have happened this year.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

As I mentioned before – being able to not compare your progress is a great quality.

Next to that, patience. What if you’re worrying was really what was holding up the result? Rushing anything only insures it will fall apart…like a partially baked cake on high temps! The outsides and corners will be burned to a crisp, and the middle will be like pudding.

Instead, taking your time allows you to see all aspects, and gives you time to do things correctly. When you miss something, you can go back and work on whatever it is – without a melt down.

Next – appreciate your work. Don’t wait on an audience to tell you how great something is. Admire and love your work! It helps more than you know. Step back, marvel and love on it…then show the world!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

My mother recently passed in late October, and despite our differences, she allowed me to create as she got older.

She encouraged me when she was depressed or stressed out. She tried to be a cheerleader. But she wanted me to mold myself – and kept saying how proud she was of me before she died.

My mother always told me how she was insecure and wished she were like me. If she hadn’t allowed me to be myself – despite what she would say, I’m certain I wouldn’t be as far as I am now.
