We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jacqueline Kopito a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacqueline , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from experience. Life has knocked me down more than once, but each time I’ve learned how to rise a little stronger. I remind myself that setbacks don’t define me—they shape me. So even when things get tough, I refuse to stay down.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a writer, and I truly love the journey this path has taken me on. I just finished my second book, Twintastic in Miami, the follow-up to my debut Twintastic, and it’s been such a joy to continue building this world for young readers. Along the way, I’ve met so many wonderful people and have found a real community of supportive writer friends.
As an identical twin, creating a series that celebrates sisterhood feels especially meaningful. Twintastic in Miami is written for tweens, twins, or really anyone who loves adventure, heart, and a little magic. At its core, the series is about self-confidence, acceptance, and the special bond siblings share. I want young girls to know that it’s okay to feel insecure, to make mistakes, and to grow from them—because that’s how we all learn who we really are.
My biggest hope is that readers walk away believing that kindness, honesty, and staying true to themselves are the real superpowers.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey as the writer of the Twintastic Series were imagination, persistence, and empathy. Imagination helped me build a magical world readers could escape into. Persistence kept me writing through doubt, setbacks, and endless revisions. And empathy allowed me to create characters who feel real, relatable, and emotionally honest.
Family is the emotional core of my books. The twins’ relationship with their dad, mom, and grandma mirrors the messiness of real family life—full of love, chaos, and lessons learned. Their friendships show just how complicated growing up can be. People change, feelings get hurt, but forgiveness and understanding truly matter. I draw from real conversations and memories with my own family and friends to make those moments feel authentic.
For anyone starting out, my advice is simple: set small goals to build persistence, stay tuned in to real emotions and real people to strengthen your empathy, and above all—don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I’ve been lucky to have several people who helped me grow as a writer, but the most influential have been my family, my writing community, and my twin sister. My family has always believed in me, even on the days when I doubted myself, and that kind of support makes all the difference. My community of writer friends has guided me through the ups and downs of publishing—offering feedback, encouragement, and the kind of honesty that helps you get better. And my twin sister has been my sounding board from day one; she understands the heart of the Twintastic Series in a way no one else can.
