An Inspired Chat with naama sarid of Brooklyn

naama sarid shared her story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning naama, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I spend many hours working from home so my primary escape and method for changing the atmosphere is physical activity. Running, working out, and boxing help me stay active and connect with a community.
Occasionally, these two worlds intersect when I look for sports collectibles, such as vintage boxing gloves with original signatures.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
In my lifelong journey across different countries I developed the hobby of perusing unique vintage treasures. I loved the adventure of searching and discovering something truly special. After decades of collecting for myself, I decided to transform this passion into a business. I founded my online vintage shop and now I get to enjoy collecting on a larger scale.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Inspired by David Bowie’s thought that “There is no journey. We are arriving and departing all at the same time,” I believe in the power of small, continuous moments to shape my life. This perspective helps me avoid waiting for a single grand event and focus more on the present. Yet, one major event defined a new beginning for me: surviving a cardiac arrest years ago. That near-death experience, including receiving electric shocks, was surprisingly positive. I view it as a second chance. A new life that has given me immense strength and appreciation.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I aspire to have the resilience of bamboo: flexible enough to bend with life’s winds without breaking, and strong enough to survive the storm. I’ve rebuilt my life from scratch many times, after changing careers, relocating internationally, and navigating divorce. Each new phase required time to explore different paths until finding the right one. These transitions have been steep learning curves, demanding constant adjustment. Even my current work process involves continuous learning with every new item I source for my shop.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I run a hybrid Instagram feed that blends my shop inventory with personal insights into my life in New York City. I post new items daily, alongside moments that capture the spirit of NYC living and my fitness routine. The goal is simple: I want you to see the real person behind the brand. I believe in transparency and plan to share more ‘behind the scenes’ moments and honest failures to show the full picture of the creative journey.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I used to find peace at Dead Horse Bay in Brooklyn, an extraordinary “glass bottle beach” where mid-20th-century trash washes ashore. It is a surreal post-apocalyptic landscape where you can find mainly vintage glass bottles. Besides the chance to collect pieces of history, what I like there is the sound of broken glass chiming with the waves. The site is currently closed to the public so until it opens again I find peace in running.
