Jazzy Kash shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Jazzy , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
As an avid fan of planning and preparing I am usually not the type of person to act fast. However there have been times when my mind state was not in an abundant mindset and I have regretting acting fast out of desperation or not carefully planning. When you act fast without weighing your options it can be costly. During a time of hardship after losing my job, living in an unsafe neighborhood and getting sick I wasn’t in the right mindset and some of the hasty decisions I made to help dig myself out of a hole, ended up costing more in the long run. Sometime when things get hard, we may want to act fast to fix the situation but I’ve learned that in those moments, God really wants us to rest so that we can execute the masterplan.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I’ve always known I wanted to be a leader and a role model. I started early development school at the age of two and was able to skip Kindergarten and go to 1st grade but I declined and found myself being a leader in grade school. While this was occurring, I was praised by my educators on how smart I was, and from then on I knew I wanted to be known for being smart and confident in that more than looks and material things. I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur ever since I practiced spelling the word at 5 years old, simply because I liked the way it sounded to me. I didn’t know all that it took to become one and never realized that I had became one the minute I decided that’s what I wanted to be. Anyone can have that same experience when they decide to live a life of purpose and have faith in their journey, and walk in truer purpose even if that means turning around and starting from where you are.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
As a child I was often very lonely and anxious about my future and if I would be successful at accomplishing my goals. At the time, I didn’t know anything about mental health or how to deal with emotional regulation so I overlooked my anxiety. If I could say one kind thing to my younger self I would tell her to be grateful for the independence but to remember that it’s okay to be still and relax sometimes, you don’t have to be in the mix.
As a result, the anxiety that hindered my concentration as a child and made me hyper independent as a teenager, is the same anxiety that birthed fear in adulthood. Preventing me from going after my dreams like I should out of fear of missing out yet also fearing becoming lazy if I’m not productive enough. As I’ve matured I’ve learned there’s power in being productive and in resting.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
The truths and principles I live by are sometimes too complex for me to articulate however if I could choose a few of my core principles and beliefs I would have to mention my connection to an ultimate source of power and creation. My relationship with Allah has been expanded to include an accumulation of knowledge expanding beyond written works of literature. Having a relationship with a higher power can surpass our understanding and depends upon our inner understandings and levels of intelligence. This means knowledge is a never ending journey in which I think, some become more wise as they age while others do not based on their lack of experience. Life is the best coach, so the only way to learn is to live with guidance from the ultimate source of life.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think most people will think my idea of success is material riches when I believe we are born rich, however over time we stop being curious like children are. As adults we create ideals rather than observations and compare ourselves to others. We can learn so much from others, but we cannot walk in anyone’s shoes. My goal is to live as authentically as possible so that my legacy is built from love, nit out of comparison. What is rich to me, may not be rich to others and ultimately the life I might choose to live will never amount to the life God has already planned for me which has been promised to be in abundance of whatever I desire, it just might be everyone’s cup of tea.
