We recently had the chance to connect with Miriam Beato and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Miriam , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Lately I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone—answering the call to show up in ways I used to be afraid of. I’m getting back into the charities I’ve always loved, becoming a voice in the communities that matter deeply to me, especially mental health and sexual assault awareness. I’m prioritizing my health, my healing, and most importantly, putting God first.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Miriam Beato, and I am the Owner and CEO of MAB Models, a modeling agency and creative platform I founded in 2019. My journey in the industry began long before I launched my agency—I’ve walked in RI Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, and LA Fashion Week, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with designers such as Manuel Palferez, Giannina Azar, and Martin Polanco. I’ve also appeared on TV9 and participated in background roles in films featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Wahlberg. Those experiences shaped my understanding of the industry and inspired me to create opportunities for others.
Through MAB Models, I’ve been able to collaborate with major brands including Macy’s, InThePinkRI, Plato’s Closet, Los Andes Restaurant, BounceCurl, SHEIN, and Comfort Brand. Under my leadership, our models have walked in New York Fashion Week, LA Fashion Week, and even attended casting opportunities like Khloé Kardashian’s Good American. For the past three years, we’ve also been actively involved in the Dominican Festival in Providence, RI—an event that means a lot to our cultural community. A major highlight for us has been seeing our models published in multiple magazines, including a feature in Vogue, which marked a huge milestone for our agency.
In addition to my work in the modeling industry, I’m also the founder of The Serenity Collectives, a mental health–focused community centered on healing, faith, and wellness, as well as the creator of The Still Space podcast. I’m passionate about mental health advocacy and sexual assault awareness—topics that have shaped my personal story and fuel my purpose. I’m currently studying psychology to become a mental health therapist, with the goal of continuing to create safe, supportive spaces both inside and outside the fashion world.
What makes my work unique is that everything I build is rooted in purpose, service, and real lived experience. Whether it’s through fashion, community events, or mental health initiatives, my mission is to uplift others, create opportunities, and keep God at the center of everything I do.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that what happened to me defined who I would become. Now I know I’m more than my past. My story holds pain, but it also holds strength, resilience, and purpose.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Dear younger me, you are stronger than you realize. The challenges you face now—your fears, your pain, your self-doubt—are shaping the woman who will one day lead, inspire, and heal. It’s okay to take up space, to use your voice, and to care for yourself first. The passions you feel now—for helping others, for giving back, for standing up for what matters—will grow into your purpose. And above all, God is guiding you, even when it feels scary or uncertain. You are enough, exactly as you are, and one day you’ll see just how far your courage can take you.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what truly matters to me is creating safe spaces—whether it’s through mental health advocacy, my modeling agency, or the communities I build. They know I care deeply about people feeling seen, supported, and understood. They’d also say my faith is at the center of everything I do, and that giving back through charity work and community service is something that brings me real joy. And above all, they’d say I’m dedicated to healing—not just my own, but helping others find their own path to healing too.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I led with heart, faith, and purpose. That I used every part of my journey—the painful, the beautiful, and the unexpected—to help others feel less alone. I hope they say I created spaces where people felt safe, supported, and seen, whether through mental health advocacy, community work, or the opportunities I built in the modeling world. I hope they remember me as someone who gave more than she took, who showed up even when she was scared, and who always put God at the center of everything. Most of all, I want them to say that because I healed, I helped others heal too.
