We recently had the chance to connect with Darius Scott and have shared our conversation below.
Darius, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first moments of my day are all about grounding myself. I pray and thank God for everything He’s done and everything He’s preparing me for. Then I get in the shower, brush my teeth, floss, and get myself ready for the day with intention. I like to start my mornings feeling clean, centered, and focused.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Darius Scott — I’m a model, actor, and makeup artist based in Richmond, VA. My work is all about storytelling through beauty, expression, and presence. I built my brand from the ground up by blending high-fashion energy with real authenticity. Whether I’m in front of the camera modeling, transforming someone through makeup, or creating content, my goal is always to inspire confidence and individuality. I’m currently expanding my creative network, working with more photographers and stylists, and building a brand that represents elegance, artistry, and ambition.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world tried to shape me, I was a creative soul with big dreams and a soft heart. I was a kid who believed in beauty, imagination, and possibility before anyone told me what was ‘realistic.’ I loved expressing myself, performing, and making people feel something. That pure version of me — the one who wasn’t afraid to shine — is still at the center of everything I do today. I’ve learned to return to him, protect him, and let him guide the person I’m becoming.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. There were moments when life felt heavy, when I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted, and when the people around me made me doubt my own potential. I’ve had days where I questioned my talent, my looks, and even my purpose. But every time I got close to giving up, something in me refused to settle. I reminded myself of where I came from, the dreams I’ve carried since I was young, and the version of me who worked too hard to quit now. Those low moments became the fuel that pushed me to level up and keep going.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is respect — especially respect for the people who poured into me. I come from a place where family, community, and loyalty mean everything. We’re taught to honor the people who raised us, uplift the people around us, and carry ourselves with integrity no matter what room we walk into. In an industry that can be superficial or competitive, I hold tight to that sense of respect, humility, and realness. It keeps me grounded and reminds me who I am.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people may misunderstand how much work, sacrifice, and intention goes into my legacy. From the outside, they might see the glam, the confidence, and the finished product — but not the late nights, the self-doubt, the healing, and the discipline behind it. Some may think I ‘just showed up’ or that things came easy, when in reality every step has been earned. My legacy isn’t just about looking good; it’s about resilience, reinvention, and staying true to myself. I want people to understand that my shine comes from the battles I’ve won, not just the moments they see.
