Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Anlin MacMillan of Bucks County

We recently had the chance to connect with Anlin MacMillan and have shared our conversation below.

Anlin, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Recently, I’ve been making more time to reconnect with friends. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy just catching up, laughing, and sharing stories. Those little moments remind me how important it is to step away from work and be present with people I care about. It’s something that’s been bringing me a lot of joy lately.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Anlin. I’m the owner and creator behind Little Treat, where I make custom cakes and treats for all kinds of celebrations. I started this as a small passion project, and it’s grown into something that lets me bring together my love for creativity, design, and baking.

I’m someone who loves details — I enjoy taking an idea and turning it into something fun, clean, and unique for each customer. Since I also work full-time, I only take a few orders each week, which lets me focus on the design and make sure everything feels personal.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up in boarding school shaped a lot of how I see work. I was surrounded by teachers and staff who were professional, organized, and carried themselves with responsibility. Seeing that every day made me want to be the same — someone who shows up, follows through, and takes pride in what they do. It’s something that stuck with me and shaped the way I approach things in life.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self to be patient with herself. Life won’t always make sense right away, but every step she takes is going to add up. She’ll learn, she’ll grow, and she won’t realize how capable she is until she’s already doing the things she once thought were hard.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what really matters to me is the people I care about and the effort I put into things. They know I’m someone who shows love through the little details — whether I’m planning something, making treats, or just being there for someone. I value kindness and doing things with intention.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, that’s actually how I approach most things in my life. I’m someone who likes to give my best even when no one sees the work behind it. I don’t do things for praise. I do them because I care about the outcome and how it makes people feel. Whether I’m doing something for people or for Little Treat, putting in the effort matters to me, even if it’s quiet and behind the scenes.
