Secrets of a Nurse Injector: Meet Amanda, RN of Colleyville’s Botox Bar

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amanda Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from within myself. As a clinical injector, I strive to continuously grow and learn to provide the best practices, injection techniques, and safety to my patients. Aesthetics is an ever evolving practice, and I truly put in the hard work day in and day out to improve my skills. This drives me even further to see the reward…… making people feel and look their best. My passion for aesthetics and where I work also drives my work ethic. The culture at Botox Bar is warm and welcoming, and I am surrounded by good team members and mentors. My passion for aesthetics motivates me to continually improve myself, my patients, and my team.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As an aesthetic nurse injector, I perform cosmetic procedures through the application of various cosmetic injectables, including Botox, Xeomin, and dermal fillers. The most exciting part about being an injector is helping patients who are seeking to boost their appearance and self-confidence. My role when patients come to see me is to make them feel warm and welcomed. The first step is sitting down and consulting with my patients, going over medical screenings, assessing the skin, and most importantly, providing education. It is top priority to me that my patients feel comfortable and fully educated on what products will be used, what to expect during treatment, and post-treatment care. My job is rewarding and exciting, and the smile on my patient’s faces when they see their results is absolutely priceless. I love getting to accentuate people’s natural beauty and make them feel and look their best.

As I mentioned before, aesthetics is an evolving practice, and I am always looking to expand my knowledge and education individually. I think it is important as an injector to keep learning and continue training. I attend trainings through our reps for further education on products and injection techniques. I have an upcoming cadaver lab training, which provides real life anatomical structures and vasculature, which helps further my knowledge on injection safety and technique.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most impactful skill and knowledge I have gained throughout my journey is mastering facial anatomy. The first priority is keeping patients safe by having a thorough understanding of facial muscles and arteries. The most impactful quality throughout my journey is taking the time to sit down with my patients and provide individualized treatment options, listening to their concerns and needs, and providing education throughout the process. I also think this quality helps build trusting relationships with patients. For those starting their injector journey, my advice would be to find mentors—those who can show you the ropes and further expand your knowledge and skills. It is important for new and seasoned injectors to never stop learning.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal patient is someone who is looking to accentuate their natural beauty. Each person is unique and has beautiful features. I want my patients to know they can still look like themselves by receiving minimally invasive injections and, in return, instilling beauty and confidence within them. I think when you feel your best, you look your best. I also think it is important for patients to be open to learning, to be informed on products and best practices, and for clients to trust their injectors, understanding that we want the very best outcome for them.
