We’re looking forward to introducing you to Accasia Hanson . Check out our conversation below.
Hi Accasia , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I choose integrity because it’s the one value that has carried me through every chapter of my life. I’ve experienced situations where I had to stand alone, make hard choices, and trust myself when things were uncertain. Integrity is what kept me grounded. It reminds me to stay honest, stay true to who I am, and treat people with the same fairness and respect I expect in return. For me, integrity isn’t just a value it’s how I protect my peace, my purpose, and my character
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Accasia Hanson
An independent R&B/Hip-Hop artist, storyteller, and founder of Echo Empire Entertainment. Everything I create comes from a place of truth. My music and my brand are built on lived experience, resilience, and the belief that creativity can change the direction of a life.
What makes me unique is that I don’t just make content . I turn real moments into art, strategy, and connection. Right now I’m releasing new music, growing my podcast, and building a digital world where people feel seen, inspired, and empowered
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed everyone was kind. I thought people naturally had good intentions and soft hearts. Growing up, I learned that not everyone moves with kindness. but I also learned something more important: I can choose to. I no longer expect goodness from everyone, but I expect it from myself. That shift made me stronger, wiser, and more intentional about the people I allow in my life.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life was the accident where I suffered an acquired brain injury after coming out of a moving taxi and fracturing my skull. I don’t remember the incident because of the memory loss that followed, but the impact changed everything .
the direction of my life, the way I saw myself, and how I moved through the world.
Even though the experience was traumatic, it reshaped me. It forced me to rebuild, re-learn, and redefine who I was. Healing came through time, self-awareness, and resilience. It taught me strength I didn’t know I had, and it led me to live with more intention, gratitude, and purpose than I ever imagined before the injury.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the music industry tells itself is that success is only measured by numbers , streams, views, or followers. The truth is, those metrics don’t define impact, authenticity, or longevity. Real success is built on connection, consistency, and the courage to stay true to your own voice.
Another lie is that you need to fit a certain image or follow trends to be heard. I’ve learned that individuality is the real power. The industry talks about originality, but often rewards sameness. Artists who stay themselves, even when it’s not the ‘popular’ choice, build careers with deeper meaning and stronger foundations.
For me, the biggest lesson has been that the industry doesn’t create your value , you do.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people tell the story that I was truly kind not just in words, but in the way I lived. That I made people feel seen, safe, and valued. That even after everything I went through, I still chose softness, honesty, and compassion.
If the legacy I leave behind is that I led with heart and lifted others along the way, then that’s enough for me.
