Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kay Clinton of Gilbert, AZ

We recently had the chance to connect with Kay Clinton and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Kay, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
When given the choice between intelligence, energy, and integrity, the value that speaks to me most deeply is integrity. To me, it means doing the right thing even when no one is watching—holding yourself accountable to your own inner compass.

Integrity has shaped not only my personal life, especially in how I show up for my children, but also the way I run my business, Spiritual Garden Healing. In our work supporting families—often in vulnerable hospital settings—integrity isn’t just a principle; it’s a lifeline. It builds trust, creates safety, and allows us to serve with compassion and transparency.

Intelligence and energy matter, of course, but without integrity guiding them, they lose their grounding. Integrity is what carries us forward, connects us to others, and ensures that our intentions match our actions. It truly goes a long way.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kay Clinton, a certified Childbirth Educator and full-spectrum doula recognized by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Through my work—and through my brand, Spiritual Garden Healing—I support first-time and new moms with heart-centered care that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit. My mission is to help families meet birth with clarity, calm, and deep connection.

What makes our work unique is our commitment to honoring you—your intuition, your values, and your voice. Birth is a sacred chapter, not a checklist of protocols. I blend modern best practices with ancient wisdom to create a safe, supportive, and deeply personal experience for each family I serve.

From childbirth education to mindful preparation, birth planning, prenatal wellness, and postpartum support, I walk beside families with presence and intention. Together, we co-create culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that reflects each person’s vision for their journey.

I am especially passionate about uplifting underserved communities and ensuring every family feels seen, respected, and empowered. My work is rooted in advocacy, education, and compassion—so families can move through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with confidence, calm, and connection.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Becoming a mother completely transformed the way I see the world. My children taught me to slow down, to lead with grace, and to understand the quiet struggles that families often carry. Motherhood opened my heart in a new way, reminding me that compassion isn’t just something we offer in big moments—it’s something we extend in the everyday, especially when people are vulnerable or facing uncertainty. It shaped the way I show up both personally and professionally, guiding me to support families with patience, empathy, and genuine care.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that diamonds are created under pressure. Life doesn’t always feel gentle, and we all move through seasons that test our strength and spirit. But those moments revealed something success never could: the power of gratitude in spite of the struggle. Even in a mindset of suffering, choosing gratitude becomes an anchor. It shifts your perspective, softens the heart, and reminds you that growth, resilience, and clarity often emerge from the hardest experiences. Success celebrates us, but suffering shapes us.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I rely deeply on my husband’s ideas and perspective. I value his opinion, his honesty, and the clarity he brings. He is a man of his word, and his grounded wisdom often helps me see things in ways I might have missed on my own.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was a strong leader, a motivator, and a true lover of my community. That I lifted up those who were struggling, honored those who were rising, and used my life to pour encouragement, compassion, and strength into others.
