Man Yang shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Man, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
As 2025 rolls in, life has been throwing a few more challenges my way.
On most ordinary yet quietly hopeful days, I work from about 2 PM until 2 AM.
There are a few days each month when I completely unplug—just to breathe, reset, and reflect on where the company is heading and what’s holding us back.
I’ve always believed that a designer’s story matters; it’s the seed of all creativity.
I don’t want a busy schedule to bury that. I want my work to keep its energy—alive and full of spirit.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
After completing my graduate studies at Bunta Fashion Graduate University, I returned to China and worked as a fashion designer and brand planner for several renowned Chinese clothing brands from 2021 to 2023.
Driven by a desire to express my perspectives on fashion and the industry, I founded a creative fashion design company in Shenzhen in 2024. Our team consists of members who graduated from prestigious fashion institutes worldwide. We assist clients in establishing clothing and accessory brands, offering services in fashion design, fabric development, and pattern making.
Additionally, we are developing our own womenswear, childrenswear, and therapeutic homewear brands, dedicated to leveraging Chinese manufacturing and collaborating with exceptional global suppliers. In 2025, we are actively advancing collaborations between self-developed games and fashion, aiming to explore the integration of apparel and virtual commerce.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a child, I truly cherished solitude and enjoyed doing many things alone. But now that I’ve built a team and found many like-minded friends, I no longer believe 100% that one person can accomplish so much on their own.
I still value the importance of quiet time alone and respect independent thinking, but what I value even more is the greater potential and results that a team can bring.
We learn from each other, share inspiration and resources, and create more spectacular works and projects together.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I owe it to myself—as both a creator and a leader—to stay honest about who I am and what drives me.
I find a strange sense of fulfillment in struggle; those difficult moments push me to look for answers, for breakthroughs, for new ways forward.
I don’t shy away from turbulence, hurt, or periods of creative drought. They challenge me in ways I value, and they remind me that growth is never finished—that my curiosity for the world is still alive. Pain and setbacks don’t frighten me; if anything, I’m eager to face them. And if I can turn those experiences into quiet, genuine strength, all the better—though most of the time, I prefer to work through them on my own.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try to be consistent in how I treat people—it’s something that gives me a sense of stability.
Because my work involves constant interaction, it’s important to me that my actions match my words. That’s how trust is built.
I don’t shift my personality or behavior depending on who I’m dealing with, but I’m always open to adjusting myself when someone offers a perspective that helps me grow.
My aim is to keep relationships comfortable and balanced, because that kind of harmony makes collaboration smoother and helps the work move forward.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
At the entrance of my studio, the space is adorned with an abundance of plants and flowers—some were gifts from friends, others I personally selected. The walls are lined with honors and awards that our team members have received over the years, arranged around a large sunflower artwork. I have always been deeply moved by passionate and vibrant things—just gazing at them fills me with joy.
Work has long transcended being merely a job. This space resonates with notes that are cheerful, serene, occasionally off-key, yet deeply peaceful. Every time we create a new collection, every time an original print comes to life on natural fabric, every time a customer wears our designs—those are the moments when the notes begin to play, and our hearts start to dance.
We no longer strive merely for rewards, because these moments themselves have become the most brilliant accolades.
