Maurico shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Maurico , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
“I’m really focused on staying healthy, so I start my day by waking up, praying, and reading my daily devotional. After getting dressed and ready for work, I make a smoothie, juice, or usually just water with lemon and sea salt. I skip breakfast because I practice intermittent fasting daily. Depending on my work schedule, I either fit in a workout in the morning or wait until the evening after work. Then I review my schedule and get into my day.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Maurico, an independent hip-hop artist, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. My mission—Better Music, Better Life—goes beyond making music; it’s about inspiring people to grow, stay disciplined, and live with purpose. I create songs that blend real-life experiences, faith, and motivation, while also writing and producing for rock, R&B, and rap artists.
What makes my work unique is the combination of creativity, authenticity, and vision. I manage nearly every part of my career myself—music, marketing, content creation, and more—because I’m committed to building something meaningful from the ground up. I don’t prefer doing everything alone, but I’m willing to take it on when necessary to bring my vision to life.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my brand, creating music and content that motivates, and helping people live better lives through the message of Better Music, Better Life.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has completely transformed how I see myself. I used to let the world define who I was, trying to fit into its system and expectations. Through studying the Bible, I discovered who I was truly meant to be and rebuilt my identity from that foundation. I’ve learned to tap into my natural gifts and align myself with His will, living in a way that reflects my purpose and true self.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me to trust God more and humbled me deeply. I like to think of myself as a strong person, but when I faced challenges beyond my own strength, it forced me to rely on God in a way I never had before. I’ve realized that the level of success I want to achieve isn’t possible without Him, so the suffering became part of a process that built my endurance and perseverance, helping me grow, mature, and prepare for what I’m meant to accomplish.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m fully committed to building the Better Music, Better Life brand, no matter how long it takes. This isn’t just a music project—it’s a movement and a lifestyle I’m creating to inspire people to grow mentally, spiritually, and physically. I believe in the message behind it and in the impact it can have on people’s lives.
Building this brand requires patience, consistency, and a willingness to wear many hats—from artist to content creator to marketer—but I’m dedicated to seeing it through because I know the long-term vision is worth every effort. My goal is to create something that lasts, that empowers others, and that truly reflects the purpose and faith I live by.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop wasting time and start focusing on the most important people and priorities in my life—my family, my career, and my relationship with God—while also embracing my full capabilities and skills, using them to make a meaningful impact in the world. I’ve learned that sometimes we hold our best back because of our circumstances or perspective, but I want to fully step into what I’m meant to give.
