Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with JERMAINE BOLLINGER

We’re looking forward to introducing you to JERMAINE BOLLINGER. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning JERMAINE, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day right now for me is waking up at 6 AM and traveling two and a half hours from my main house in St. Louis to my rental property in southern Illinois.

From 9 AM to 6 PM, I spend the day with my kids and that is my favorite part of the day.

After their mom picks them up, I clean the house for my recording session with one of my clients at 7:30 PM.

After they head out around 8:30 PM, I spend some time invoicing and doing some mixing or work on plans for the new studio up north before the Warriors game at 9 PM.

I’ll watch the game, hoping Curry drops a 30 bomb, then head to bed at around 11 PM.

I’ll give my wife a call, say goodnight to my girls and fall asleep.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Jermaine Bollinger. I am the CEO of Salvation Studios. I have four clients in the studio including myself. I’ve been the CEO for a year now after stepping out of a full time recording artist role, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was in and out of worship leading at churches around the Midwest and staying miserable. I’ll save the soapbox speech and just say it’s not where I was supposed to be at all. Another great decision I made was to was to get from behind the business curtain of the church and leave it to people who are supposed to be there.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. I find it funny how some of my most resilient moments were after almost near failure or defeat. You can only go up from your lowest low. When I started recording again in 2022, I ended up having 26 consecutive chart-topping singles on the CRC as well as several award nominations, and even two song of the year runner-up awards in 2023 and 2024. It’s what I hang my hat on in life. I’m very proud of those accomplishments.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
No. I’m a huge introvert. I had to build a persona of faking an extroverted attitude to seem more approachable while I’m working and at events. It’s something that I’ve worked on for over 15 years, and I think I’ve finally got it down to a science, especially when I’m on the mic.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Working. I’d spend as much time with my family as I could. They mean everything to me, and every moment with them for the next 10 years will never be enough.
