Meet Wayne Harris

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wayne Harris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wayne below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Wayne with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I would say my work-ethic definitely came from my father. He was a carpenter and framer for 20+ years and after growing up working with him in the summers and watching how hard he worked and how he was able to get things accomplished, it inspired me and helped develop my work-ethic as well. He helped build everything from homes, supermarkets, apartments, and the like.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Founded in 1991, Coastal Quality Builders has been building homes for over 34 years. Our commitment to quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction has made us one of the most respected home builders in the industry. Being a custom builder, we take great pride in helping our customers achieve the vision they have in mind for their dream home. Seeing their faces light up as we hand them the keys will always be something special that we at Coastal Quality Builders truly enjoy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1) Being teachable is such an important skill to begin developing. Never think you’ve learned everything there is to know. Always be willing to learn from others and to find better ways to do things.

2) Learn to focus on quality and take tremendous pride in your work. Always strive to do things right the first time.

3) Be willing to do more than is expected of you. Learn to under promise and over deliver . . . never vice versa.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

Someone who is willing to ask and seek our advice rather than think they know everything because their friend’s cousin was a contractor thirty years ago. Some people act like they know it all despite having never even lifted a hammer before. Please don’t be that person. Haha.
