We’re looking forward to introducing you to Preston Lewin. Check out our conversation below.
Preston, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning the most from my team. At other companies, employees try to be overly nice or just tell you what you want to hear, but mine don’t do that. They call me out, they challenge me, and they don’t sugarcoat anything. They care deeply about whatever venture I’m pouring myself into. That honesty has been the biggest driver of my growth — having people around me who actually care enough to push me, not just agree with me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Preston Lewin, and I run a company called V1 Tech. We specialize in plexiglass wall art, mousepads, custom PC mod parts—basically anything that lets people fully deck out their gaming setup. Our audience is super passionate about anime and pop culture, and we meet them where they are. We vend at 100–200 anime and comic conventions every year, and we also sell online at v1tech.com. This year we’re on track to do around $2.5–3 million in total sales. It’s been an insane journey, and we’re just getting started.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was when I dropped out of college to run my first company, Presteeto PC, full-time. It was the first moment I chose my own path instead of following someone else’s blueprint. Autonomy is my number one value, so taking that leap—building a business from nothing, figuring things out on my own, and realizing I could actually create my own opportunities—was huge for me. That decision set the tone for everything I’ve done since. I’m excited to keep chasing what I’m passionate about and trying new ideas as I grow.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
The last time I changed my mind about something important was after doing a collaborative PC drop with Hassan Alaw and V1 Tech. I realized that being a part of V1 Tech could be a far bigger vehicle for growth—not just financially, but in terms of knowledge, development, and building meaningful connections. The company had actually filed for bankruptcy that same month, but I still made the leap because I saw what it could become through kind leadership, communication, optimization, and unbiased service. Nearly a year later, we’ve completely turned things around, and that decision has become one of the most pivotal shifts in my career.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me. I used to struggle severely with trying to be someone I wasn’t, just to be liked. Now, I’m unapologetically my high-energy, passionate, and loving self. I’m ultra-transparent both on social media and in public, which has helped me build trust, meaningful connections, and genuine pride in who I am. People might initially think I’m over the top or ‘fake,’ but once they get to know me, they realize I’m just always like this—excited for life and fully myself.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember that I worked my ass off, built something incredible the right way, and always put people first. That I served others, took care of them no matter what, and created something extremely profitable while staying true to my values.
