An Inspired Chat with Kendall Robinson of NoMa-Union Market

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kendall Robinson. Check out our conversation below.

Kendall, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
The most important thing to me is definitely combined energy/integrity. As an avid traveler who has been lucky enough to meet people from all walks of life, I always remember how i was treated and the personality that came from individuals I interacted with. In my own personal life, I like to prioritize making people feel good after interactions with me. I want to ensure that everyone feels seen, heard, and important after speaking with me. I fully believe that people always remember how they felt in your presence to thats the thing i look for when speaking with others!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kendall Robinson, I’m 25 years old and in the simplest terms I’d describe myself as a professional shot shooter and side-quester. For as long as I can remember I’ve been a risk taker and I think this started to manifest when I decided to drop my pre-med track in college to pursue an art degree. In college I started working professionally as artist working with corporations such as Beats By Dre, Warner Music Group, Universal Pictures, Xfinity/Comcast in addition to private clients and illustrating 3 children’s books! I believe having success so early motivated me to keep sharing my art while simultaneously seeking out opportunities to see the world. My family has been big on travel as long as I can remember and due to the pandemic I was unable to study abroad, so about a year after post grad is when I was presented the opportunity to teach english in Spain. I didn’t know anyone in Spain nor did I speak spanish but I jumped into the opportunity with both feet first and it absolutely changed my life. I was able to learn spanish and start my quest of seeing all 7 wonders of the world before i turned 25. I was documenting all of this on social media which allowed me to create a following of almost 100,000 followers and landed me on the Tamron Hall show to talk about my journey! At 25 i’ve traveled to 37 countries, had incredible life changing experiences and have been humbled to know that I’ve inspired many people to not only travel but take the risk to change their lives and make it their own!

Right now I am living and working in DC as a professional artist and figuring out life but really leaning into the journey and uncertainty of that while finding joy!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I believe the privilege and opportunity to travel the world extensively has shaped the way I view myself and the world. I am 25 years old and I’ve been to 37 countries. I started traveling with my family at a very young age but the bulk of my international travel happened after I graduated college. I moved abroad to Spain at 22 years old and set off on my quest to see all 7 wonders of the world before I turned 25 which I completed 6 months before my 25th birthday. Travel is the one thing I have paid for that has in turn made me richer. I have been able to push myself out of my comfort zone and do adventures all around the world. Most importantly, I’ve come to believe that travel is the key to world peace. I think that it is so easy to place people in categories and make them feel so far away and different. The thing that I have found to be true is that we are more alike than we are different. The human experience connects us all, we are all experiencing life, love and loss. We all have hopes and dreams and we want our families and the people we love to be safe and happy. Travel has allowed me to connect with all walks of life and I truly believe the majority of the people in the world are good and trying to figure it out the best way they know how, just like you and me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
The world is and always has been yours.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would say the pursuit of joy, adventure, and life is what matters the most. Joy in the sense that I always look for fun in every scenario. Adventure in that I love to push the limits and try new things that excite me and get me out of my comfort zone. Life in that I really value family and close relationships that fuel me and ground me when life gets hectic.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people say is that I was someone that inspired them to take more risks in their own life. To pursue their own dreams despite what others were saying. I hope people say that I was kind and I allowed a space where people could come and feel good about themselves and what they were doing. I hope to be thought as brave, courageous and adventurous with a humility that kept me thankful for the opportunities presented.
