Bryden Wilson’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Bryden Wilson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bryden , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
This seems to be a season of softening, a season of stillness. And that can be frightening if you are inclined to achievement, pushing hard, and competitiveness.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I suppose I am more of an eclectic woman. I am a practitioner of manual therapy, who makes her own apothecary line with a slice of photography, poetry and pottery on the side.
I am inspired by movement whether it be the movement of nature, or humans within nature, the different patterns, colors and fractals that come together to create beauty and life.
my endeavor is to express this in and through the work I do.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
It takes willingness to listen and provide a safe space. I mean really listen at a deeper level to hear the story of another. I have had the opportunity to hear so many stories from clients I have served, this creates a bond without having to agree on any hot takes, or topics. When someone knows you are a safe space, there is a connection created. Care, respect and treating another as a human created by the creator with the possibility for Divine life can go a long way in building bonds.
Forgetting this, treating another as a commodity or a resource to obtain something breaks a human to human bond; one simply becomes an object.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering is the bridge to humility. Humility is a very freeing practice and takes great courage. A humble soul is not achieved through great success or accolades but through the path of suffering. And suffering if you allow it, can be a great teacher in opening up, softening and receiving a new way of being.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
What is a fad but a fleeting idea, something that plays on the emotions in the moment but has no deep roots which stand the test of time. Foundational shifts have a golden thread through them that lead back to ancient wisdom. They, when followed, allow for virtue and growth and benefit those around them.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
There is a saying from a Saint of old. “Learn to know yourself, and see to it that your soul’s endeavor is within her strength.” – St. Silouan

This is something that has sunk deep into my bones as of late. Many many times my body has let me know I am out of my depth, the soil of my soul is simply not prepared for what I am trying to achieve. So I need to step back, be still and listen. I would say most often it is our bodies that let us know we are needing to reevaluate the circumstances we are in.
