Asanda Hanabe of Johunnesburg / Eastern Cape on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Asanda Hanabe shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Asanda, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Ooooh yes my daughters end year report for grade seven made me an extremely proud mom…she really worked hard and all by herself…I’m extremely happy no words can even describe how proud Iam she said she would and she sure did. 😭🥰

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a THESPIAN…I ACT SING AND DANCE. This I do in theatre and also tv and film.
What makes this special is the power of healing that it has not just for me but the people who get to experience my work …I always hope that atleast one person walks away feeling rejuvenated…healed …or atleast having had learned something new.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I could do anything I set my kind to ..if I believed I could than I would…

Now having grown and surrounded by people who I deem to be better artists than me self doubt tends to creep in on me alot and I see myself failing on things I haven’t even attempted to even try. That has been weighing heavy on me and have been trying my best to draw myself away from such to thoughts it has been a rather difficult journey that haven’t given up on just yet.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It is ok not to be ohk.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
What Is meant for you will be. When the time is right God will stop at nothing to see you through.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That through it all…the hardships…I never gave up…I constantly showed up even when everything around me…inside me …beside me as as dragging me to a very dark hole.
