We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amanda Indeyevid. Check out our conversation below.
Amanda, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Yes, I would hire me. I’m stubborn in the best way, meaning I don’t give up easily and I don’t let people stop me from doing what I know I can do. I’m extremely collaborative, always willing to learn, and I never look at competition as a threat. I see it as inspiration. I genuinely want to work with people, grow with them, and be the kind of leader who others can learn from through my own experiences. I naturally take initiative, especially in situations where leadership or confidence is missing, because I care about pushing things forward and making sure the team succeeds.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amanda. I’m the founder and frontwoman of two New Jersey punk bands, Indeyevid and Bride Riot, and I also host shows under the name Gummi Bear DIY.
I started Indeyevid in 2022 to create something completely my own. The name, a play on “individual,” reflects the idea of being true to yourself. The band is an experimental alternative punk project, raw, unpredictable, and emotional. Bride Riot, on the other hand, is an all-woman metal-punk fusion band focused on empowerment and breaking norms in a male-dominated scene. It is loud, unapologetic, and meant to inspire other women and underrepresented artists to claim their space and make their voices heard.
Beyond performing, I run Gummi Bear DIY, which is all about creating inclusive, all-ages, grassroots spaces for artists and bands to perform. It is a community-driven project built on collaboration, energy, and giving people a platform to be loud, creative, and unapologetically themselves.
Whether it is through my music or my shows, I am all about authenticity, collaboration, and empowerment, making music and spaces that are real, meaningful, and inspire others to do the same.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think what breaks or restores bonds between people comes down to communication. Being able to honestly express your feelings, whether they are good or bad, is really important. It also means acknowledging any mistakes you may have made or the way something was said, and being open to the fact that people interpret things differently. We have to try to see things from different perspectives and truly hear the other person’s side. Sometimes people need to take a step back or spend some time apart, and that’s okay, but it doesn’t have to be permanent. What matters is making an effort to meet in the middle, listen, and be heard, while also respecting yourself enough to speak up and share your side.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Being an actively contributing member of the New Jersey music scene since around 2019, something I really miss that most people might not know about is the feeling of being completely new. Knowing nobody and stepping into the scene without anyone knowing me or me knowing them was both intimidating and exciting. It felt like the beginning of endless chapters for me, learning everything from the ground up. It is sentimental to think that at one point I didn’t know anyone or anything, and now I am surrounded by familiar faces, bands, and friends. Looking back, it is amazing to see how far I have come since that very first step.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I think the public sees the real me. I’m unapologetically myself and on social media I just share who I really am. I don’t sugarcoat things and try to be as authentic as possible because I believe in confidence and self-love. I hope that by being honest and showing myself fully, it encourages others to embrace who they are too.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, absolutely. As a musician, it happens all the time. You put blood, sweat, and tears into your music and everything else that goes into a band, and sometimes nobody notices or gives praise. You do it because you want to, because it’s something that matters to you. You do it for yourself, for that feeling of self-accomplishment, and to make history in your own life. At the end of the day, that is what makes it all worth it.
